Hi I'm looking for a little bit of help please in regards to a parking charge.

I parked in the Ibis hotel Reading car park entered the hotel and paid my £5 parking charge which according to the sign outside covered me for 24 hours. Approximately 7 weeks later I recieve a letter from DRP stating I owe £160. I have recieved no parking charge and no ticket on my windscreen so I cannot appeal just a letter from the debt recovery agency. In this situation is there anything I can do?? This feels so wrong

Thank you in advance for your help

  • I'm not Jason and I'm sure he'll be along soon, but have you contacted the hotel? If you were a guest there, did you pay the hotel for the parking? They'd perhaps have a record of the payment.

First, remove that name:-) and Welcome to the forum.

Read the newbies section of this Thread and then come back with specifics, if necessary.
Complain LOUDLY to Ibis, also on social networks if they try to wriggle out of responsibility. They will have record of your o/n stay, which should also show your parking fee. It is NOT a "fine".
Come back when you've done these things

    Sorry it's removed :)

I have already complained to ibis and they have said it is out of there hands and now with the people who deal with the car park. I was only visiting the hotel as I had family over to stay. The only receipt I have is for the parking which is £5 paid on the 8th of January. The parking fine is from the 9th but the sign in the car park says clearly £5 for 24 hours and I was well within that time.
Sorry Ibis did say 24 hours didn't mean 24 hours but per day
  • ahh the 24 hr settup that finishes at 8am

what is worrying is the quickness of DR+ , who are DR+ working for , the name of the parking Co

I really wish there was a dedicated parking fines forum that had its own guide to fighting parking fines.

I haven't got a parking fine never recieved one in the post or on my windscreen. All I have is a letter from a debt recovery agency asking for money.

This morning I contacted the head office of the hotel who I am hoping are going to reply. I have also contacted the parking agency who were adamant I pay and then fight afterwards for my money back. They told me the parking charge was sent out but I didn't recieve it. I also explained I had paid the £5 parking charge that should have lasted 24 hours to the hotel but they still insisted I pay there fee. I was also told it is now too late to appeal ( but how could I appeal when I knew nothing about it ? )
  • you would get a lot more help if you posted in the parking sub forum , you are going about this totally wrong , do NOT go ringing a "parking agency" , no such thing , this is legalised scamming!!!
