Thank you very much for all your comments.
As far as I can tell, there is a long list of support things he can be considered for. He is very keen to live in.., but does have some noise issues (both being around it and making it). So I will be looking at what support he might need and what is available. There does look to be quite a lot of support at The Roehampton. He's just had a rediagnosis done by the Royal Maudsley so that will help.
I was told that in situations like this, the accommodation can agree to a 'try it out' arrangement where you don't have to pay the full cost of accommodation up front like normal, just in case he finds it more difficult than expected (we are close enough for him to travel in if he has to for a period but we are both aware he will gain a lot if he can live in).
So lots to arrange and find out.
If anyone else is in a similar situation and only has a 'child' diagnosis - be aware its taken us over two years to get through all the delays and reassessments that have been necessary - so you need to apply well in advance (my LA doesn't have this service so out of borough funding had to be applied for for every single thing). But it has been well worth it as the adult assessment has been much more thorough than the one carried out when he was 11.0 -
That's lovely to hear, you must be so proud of him.
Good luck to him for the future.0 -
Great stuff.
If he requires extra time in exams for whatever reason, he needs to speak to his tutor/the UG Office BEFORE the exams. With notice, it can be possible for students to take exams in private rooms if that helps. I work in a university, and many of the academics could be described as being "on the spectrum"; it's an environment where being clever but a bit eccentric/different is actually quite normal.
Just a point Deanna- the university is not going to be able to discuss his academic record with you unless he expressly gives permission. They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -
:dance:If I knew how to do a champagne smiley I would, but a dancing smiley says much the same thing.0

So pleased for you and him deanna - you have had such tough times and battled all the way to get the support he needed.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0

That's really good news and you must be so proud of him!I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0

You have shown the same commitment, never-say-die and stamina as my dd. Her eldest son, an Aspergers sufferer, would not have been comfortable at Uni, but he had a wonderful college tutor who recognised his intelligence and ability and got him through the exams he needed. He is now an IT networking engineer at 23 and part of a very good local company. He has his own flat and is quite able to look after his own needs, except for the occasional medical or dental appointment. All down to a brilliant mum, a good stepdad and we grandparents.
Well done, doing it on your own, you both have my full respect and admiration.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Wonderful news for all of you. Best wishes for a happy future0

Well done to him and to you xx
I'm celebrating too with regards to youngest, makes all the work worth it doesn't it?We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
