I'm back, managed another couple of hours of sleep. Funnily enough last night as I was nodding off another loud noise outside which turned out to be a huge flock (is that right) of geese flying away, obviously in fright st something.
Judi - how awful for you and your family.
Tru - good old Scampi. Your patience with him has been great.
Seems that the sprocker puppy is fine and came to no harm after all. I'm so relieved.
Last night another neighbour / friend called round to unload her woes. She's normally a very positive person so I didn't mind, offered alcohol and a shoulder.
This morning I need to start clearing the living room. Then I'm getting help to move the TV and sort out the cables. I've also got my laser visit which maybe the final one. Woohoo! Then lots more paperwork which MUST be done.
There's bolognese mince in the fridge to use up with almost bendy veg.
I hope everyone has a happy Monday.0 -
Good morning,
Gers thank you for the thread.
LW I hope all goes well and feels easy for you today, let us know how you got on.
Ancientofdays I wish I had known you needed toy stuffing! I have given away about a dozen cushions recently, thinking the stuffing would have been perfect for projects, but I did not know anyone who needed them. They went to the local jumble sale, where they came from originally over the years.
Tru good to read about Scampi's progress.
Redruby glad you sold your car.
Judi so sorry to read you are having such a hard time with your DS, it is really difficult when our adult children come back and rely on us. As parents we make so many sacrifices to bring them up well and healthy and we invest so many hopes in them. Then we just want to rest from the hard work of bringing up a family, but sadly it doesn't always work. I know of so many older parents who are contending with similar issues. Issues around drink and drugs and consequently mental health problems are rife, unfortunately. I hope your DS manages to straighten up his life. For your sake as well as his. I can't begin to imagine how weary and stressed you must be at the thought of him moving back. (((Hugs))).
Hugs also to all who need them and well wishes to the poorlies.
This morning my cleaner is coming, after two weeks so plenty to do. Means I have to get up in spite of being very achy in my joints. DH and DD are going to art class and DD will go back to her home today. She has been in a lot of pain caused from her physical work. I hope she will be sensible and not go back to work until fully recovered. It is good to have her back into our lives but I am always on edge with her, almost expecting another drama, let's hope it won't happen.
Going to try to stay properly low carb today, not like yesterday with wine and ice cream!
Greek yogurt and nuts for breakfast, smoked salmon and goats cheese salad for lunch, not sure about dinner yet.
Have a good day. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Morning everyone, thanks to Gers for starting the thread and hugs to anyone who needs or wants one.
Wet and windy here though quite mild, I've no need to go anywhere today so thankfully don't need to venture out in it.
Must get the admin done today and change the throws on the sofas but apart from that I've no plans.
Still swithering what to make for dinner tonight - I've root veg mash LO from last night so could have that with something or have a freezer rake.
Just off to attempt the challenge of washing my hair so will no doubt need a lie down and several cuppas after that before the world is steady again so that'll be a good chunk of the day gone - doesn't time fly when simple things take much longer than they used to!
Hope everyone has a good day x0 -
Morning,((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Is keeping you awake by wriggling a reason for divorce???? another bad night with OH, he was falling asleep over his supper, but wide awake at bedtime. I am seriously thinking about moving into the back bedroom for a few nights, I badly need some quality sleep.
Its fine so far although grey clouds scudding over. Towels and a small load of whites out on the line, fingers crossed.
Need to get my bum into gear and get on, Monday clean to do.0 -
camelot, i read somewhere that if you iron towels they don't dry as efficiently, I presume you don't find that.
Lainey, I hate padded bras as well and the ones in M & S seem particularly unlikely to mould to anyone's figure.
I had a bad night's sleep culminating in a frustrating dream. I've had lots of dreams lately about trying to get somewhere but being thwarted by all sorts of things. I wake up with clenched teeth which can be painful. Last night was particularly odd because I was supposed to be going to dinner with Hillary Clinton (to much preoccupation with US politics I think). I was being frustrated by mobile phone problems, culminating in the discovery that DH was texting another woman - something that I'm pretty sure he wouldn't do!
I'm off to Milton Keynes later to Pick up Sis-i-l from the station so need to find my GUAG.0 -
Morning all
LW hope all goes well for you today
Tru will be round so you can work your magic on Dolly who has decided that Scampi tantrums are the way forward when she sees cats, dogs, people and children
Judi gentle thoughts to you x
I had a quiet weekend till last night then had a panic that i had booked the wrong shore trip in Israel I thought that i had booked to go to TelAviv and not Jerusalem 20 minutes of frantic paper searching and i found i had booked the right one
The weather forecast said it was going to be hot but it seems quite windy and cold today so not sure whats happening
Dinner tonight is left over roast pork
Hugs to all who need them
Have a great day whatever you are up to0 -
Morning
I was awake at stupidly early o clock for a few hours then fell back to sleep. When my alarm went off I was sound asleep and I think I probably would have slept for a few more hours if not rudely awakened by the first of my 6 alarms!!
I could quite happily go back to bed and stay there all day. Where does the weekend go..one minute it's Friday night then next it's Monday morning. Oh how I'd love a longer weekend.
Nothing of interest to say..I only have work on the cards today and nothing else of note.
Take care all.'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Good Morning chums and its almost tropical this morning in north Kent ,very mild and with a threat of sunshine
:):)
Well , the half term is over and life gets back to relative normality again for another 6 weeks:). gentle pottering this morning for me as I didn't sleep well last night ,for no apparent reason just kept waking up,perhaps its because the weather is getting milder, maybe my bedroom was too warm, daresay I will have a nanny nap later to catch up.
Judi hope things can get sorted for you honey ,your DS is a problem isn't he ,but I can understand your worries, they never stop being our problems do they our children no matter how old they are.
My DGS and his new wife fly off tomorrow to the U.S to live and work ,but bless him he popped in to see me over the weekend and he is so looking forward to going ,even though we will all miss him, I am pleased about his promotion.
DD and her OH are starting at a puppy class on Wednesday night with their new little Westie. He is a dear little chap and very cute, but needs classes in socialising and behaviour.
Right time for some coffee, have a great day chums what ever you are doing ,no cooking for me tonight as I came home with left over bits from last nights roast beef dinner
Cheers everyone

Morning everyone
The start of a week off work for me as its half term here. Just having a cuppa and waiting for a washing machine man who is coming between 8.42 and 11.42! Nothing major, just every time I open the powder drawer the front falls off it...my warranty runs out in March so I thought I may as well get it fixed. Sorted some paperwork and half cleaned upstairs; will finish it after my cuppa. Will be going down to spend the afternoon with my dad, so my mam can go into town for a couple of hours. Dad has dementia and can't be left by himself. His plan was that we watch that new programme that was on last night about if Germany had won the war....I think it might be a bit confusing for an 81 year old with dementia. so we shall see!0 -
Good morning everyone,
Busy on here today! I think this little daily thread is growing more and more popular.
I had a very nice weekend although it was quite spendy. a sore head on Sunday morning didn't help.
Major road works on the M8 this morning disrupted my journey into the city quite majorly. Got completely lost. I believe it's ongoing for the next 8-10 weeks so that'll be fun.
Been to the gym this morning and I've got badminton tonight. Need to make my lunch for tomorrow, can't remember what's on the meal plan.
Hope everyone had a nice Monday and terrific week ahead.0
