O/S Daily Sunday 19 February 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning.
A particularly large noisy gust of wind woke me just now. I'm hoping to get back to sleep again. More later.0 -
Good morning, I'm up and have been for an hour or so but I did go to bed very early.
Day off in lieu of Friday today, I thought I'd done the washing but a pile of damp towels appeared as if from nowhere so I've got those in the machine now.
Might potter off out later, I need more toy stuffing. I can get better quality online but at a greater cost than buying it locally, plus a large postage cost on top.
Dinner will be a casserole probably, I've root veg to use up, and I might make a cake.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possibleI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning All
Gers - The wind woke me up too, very blustery and wet out there this morning. Your Sunday lunch sounded lovely.
Hope the invalid is ok judi.
I don't iron much but do like the bedding done (and the tea towels - they fit in the drawer better!).
Had a busy weekend at DDs, her bedroom is all painted and looking lovely, made a start on the other one, need to move things around to do more but ran out of energy. Also cleaned the oven and the fridge freezer. It will probably be Wednesday before I can get up again for a couple of hours after work.
Busy week ahead, work is madness at the moment and seem to have arranged to meet a few people after work, no peace for the wicked!
Hope you all have a happy Monday, take care. XX0 -

Mr tru is so heavy-handed, he's always breaking things. The latest is a small plastic bit on the Dyson. It's a tiny part of the bit you press down to empty the bin. It also wouldn't clip on to the cleaner so I couldn't use it without taping the bin to the handle but that meant I couldn't use the tube for stairs. Rang Dyson to order another piece and you can't just buy the bit, you have to have the whole top part – the one on the left in THIS pic. £65 normally – but free as we've had it less than five years! Even though he admitted to breaking it himself. So I'm very impressed with them.
Scampi allowed a woman to walk past our drive while we were stood on it, with no reaction from him at all. And a man in a hi-vis vest cycled past us – we were on the path and he was on the road, but he was coming towards us. Scampi glanced at him and carried on trotting beside me. Doesn't sound like a huge deal but if you saw his normal reaction to these things, you'd all be round my house with champagne to celebrateI've also realised – took me long enough – that he hates men in hats. We see a man almost every day, sometimes it's fine and other days it's a spinning, pulling, barking tantrum. We had a bad meeting, I had a lightbulb moment and mentioned his hat. He took it off and hid it, Scampi sat in front of him and sniffed his hand, perfectly calm. He got the hat back out and he transformed into a snarly monster. So another problem solved. Well not solved, but at least I know to cross the road and distract him if I see a hat coming towards us

Just over a week to go and my girls can have their freedomI can't wait to see them scratching for worms, dust bathing and sauntering about in the run.
Some work has come in. I'll flatten out the bits of paper – why are they always screwed up or at the very least, folded a few times very wonkily? lol – and put them in date order. I'll work my way through them over the next few days. I'm trying to keep mornings, from 10am, free for work, so I space the work out over the week to keep a routine going.
Not sure what I'm doing this afternoon, I haven't touched any yarn for weeks so I might get my crochet books out and see if anything inspires me.

Morning all7
Thanks for the thread Ger.
Tru, one of my DGD's won't come near me if I have my hair tied back, same sort of thing.
Back to work for me today, half term is over, boo.
DD loves her waistcoat, I've seen one in a different colourway that I want to do now, but first I need to finish a baby blanket, make DGD9 a unicorn, make some preemie octopi and make two porthole covers!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all
Thanks Truand well done scampi clever boy :j
Off to work for me and its half term here so will be manically busy we will be lucky to get a lunch break all week !
There Is some left over chicken from yesterday so I might do a chicken fried rice for dinner which is nice and easy have got loads of veg I can stick in also some salad to use up to go with it.
We cleared the hedge cuttings they filled a large pick up truck ! we also cleaned the conservatory roof by me leaning out of the upstairs windows with am extendable squeegee thing and buckets of water and OH on a ladder leaning against the side of the conservatory with the hose, we do this once a year and its amazing the amount of muck that comes off, the light in there and the lounge is so much better :j
I have also sold my car :T so that is one less thing to worry about the chap is happy to wait till I get my new one so no worries re trying to sell it after.
LW good luck today hope all goes well xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all.
Camelot I think Prodigal is fine. Hubby made him sleep in the conservatory last night as he stinks to high heaven. The heating was up full though it must have been uncomfortable.
There's no excuse for the state he's in. He bought it on himself. I remind myself he's only violent when he's drunk or stoned but it's fair to say I'm not comfortable with him here. I've seen the violent side of him.
He's weak, damaged and vulnerable. I think his only hope is to move him back in with us but when he lived with us last he just sat on his backside all day doing nothing but playing music on his pc. It would mean turning the small bedroom back into a bedroom as we are using it as an office at the moment and three smokers in the house (well in the conservatory) isn't filling me with joy! I was excited to hear of Youngests plans to move out in the future but I may have to face moving another one back into the nest. That's another thing. If anything happens to his Dad...the voice of authority. Where does that leave me?
So much to think about but as yet it's all in my head.
Back to stuff not in my head but reality. Hubby and Youngest should be at work by now. I've just heard the conservatory door open.
It's fair to say, the last few years have been tough emotionally for me and I can't see it easing up ant time soon.
Onwards and forwards

Morning folks and thanks for the early start GERS! The wind is forecast to hit us later but all is calm for now. Maybe it will pass us by! I had a marginally better night last night but still awake numerous times.
I don't know what was matter with me yesterday. I felt really nattered with myself all day (maybe lack of sleep?) and last night resorted to ransacking Mr TA's goody box and shovelling all sorts down. Today I bitterly regret it and have given myself a good slap!
I never got into town yesterday on my picture hunt, I CBA getting ready to go out. So that's the plan for this morning.
There's still some of yesterday's lamb casserole left so Mr TA can have that with l/o mashed potatoes tonight. I might bring him a pasty back from his favourite pie shop for lunch if he behaves himself! I am back on the straight and narrow I hope and sensible eating is planned for me. I WILL lose the 6lbs gained over the winter!
LAMEWOLF hope today goes as well as it can. JUDI I teally hope your DS can start to sort himself out. (HUGS) to all else in need/want of one for whatever reason. Worries, sadness or anxiety. Have a good day all if you can and take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning, dry and very sunny here at present. Thank you GERS for the new thread, I really hate high winds, so for once am quite pleased that I am not in your beautiful part of the world.
Just one appointment today, ears to be syringed ready for visit to hearing clinic on Thursday, appointment is with my favourite Sister at the medical practice who is always funny, kind and patient about by weeny ear canals and all the debris they seem to attract:rotfl:
Hope to do a little more gardening today and OH has indicated he will do a couple of things there that will help me. Came in for a little rest yesterday to find a missed phone call and an e-mail from one of my dearest friends from Dorset to say she was on a mystery coach trip and was in my town for another 40 minutes or so, much frantic trying to catch her on the phone (rubbish signal in parts) and finally was able to drive up, park and after a series of texts located her, we only had 15 minutes together, but it has made my week:D
Got some really good YS bargains yesterday, so some things wedged into the freezer, others to be cooked today and a list blu tacked to the fridge with meal plan and a note of things that need eating before new things open! Really need to make some GF biscuits and snacks, very few bought things that rock my boat:(
Best wishes to all that are struggling with health or family issues, have a peaceful and productive day.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Morning everyone, thanks for the thread Gers, windy here too but no rain.
Off into town today to drop DM's keys off and pay the last of her rent, am waiting to hear from the DWP re the two lots of pension that were paid after she had died, anyone had experience of how long they can take to claim such back?
I am in desperate need of a couple of new bras so will pop into Mr Sparks as have a 20% discount code, after the plain t-shirt type but hate the padded ones so fingers crossed they have something that suits.
Will be thinking of LW today, hope all goes well m'dear, hugs also to all worried or poorly.
Have a good day everyone, take care folks x0
