Hi
I have 2 children and 3 stepchildren so 5 all together. Like Lil_me said i just cook normal meals just more of it. Most recipes can be adapted to suit. If a recipe serves 4 i just double the quantitys and freeze the left over portion.0 -
i agree with the 2 above but if its just examples of how things can be done more cost effectively then i reccommend this post

Hiya
There are quite a few threads on various aspects of cooking and budgeting for families of four or five and more. The link below should give you plenty to browse.
I'd be inclined to sit your daughter in front of your keyboard and take her younglings off to the park for an hour or two. Or three. Or six!

Having once taken my neice on holiday, which changed us from a standard family of four to a family of five. I found myself re-joicing when I actually came across stuff that actually came in 5's or 10's (eg packets of ham), so do know where you're coming from with this. There is a website for people with 4 or more kids here.

We too are a family of 6. What I get so mad at is that so much is geared towards the 'normal' ie 2 adults/2 children. Some places you can get up to three children on one ticket but not many.
And as for hotel rooms or holidays......
The best one we have had is the free family railcard. I got the link from this site and we've had 3 lovely days out, so far, and been able to include my mum on the ticket as well. You can take up to four adults and four childen each time.0 -
I have 8 children so 10 of us (16, 13, 12, 10, 9, 7, 5 and 3).. I just adapt recipes so that it feeds everyone!!!.. usually double up in everything.. if she only has 5 children if they are all quite young I'd do half as much again or do doubkle and freeze some for lunches through the week.. or when there are enough just don't cook one night!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
