Car Hire Girona

I have started looking for car hire from Girona airport for 15 days in August.
We don't need anything fancy as we are staying within 40km of the airport and will only use it for supermarket runs etc and won't have a massive amount of luggage (thanks Ryan Air).
I've found some good prices - circa £250 for 15 days but when I look as the reviews they are all appalling, not least because they are brokers subcontracting to local firms.
I know people only review car hire when they have a bad experience but I'm also aware how problematic the industry is getting.
Does anyone have any advice or recommendations?
Happy to pay more not to be scammed.

Do a comparison at https://www.carrentals.co.uk and https://www.travelsupermarket.com . Avoid Goldcar, Interrent and solmar.
CarRentals website should give results direct with some of the companies as well as the brokers and should give an idea of the price differences.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
I have got a relatively good quote directly from Avis.
As I have actually heard of them I am tempted to book unless anyone has horror stories.0 -

I've rented cars in Spain and Cyprus using Economy Car hire. I always book it shortly after booking flights and we've always had great service from them.
They are now called Zest Car Rental.0
