Are Vauxhall Trying to Rip Me Off?

Sorry, my bad - you didn't state it was the diesel version you were looking at so I wrongly assumed you meant the 1.2 petrol.
You are right with your price!
BTW - there is no such thing as a "haggled price" with Drive the deal. What you see on the screen is what you pay, no negotiation.

Plane Boy - I read those T&Cs as saying that I should be able to get the Ecoflex in conjunction with the VIP price and the free insurance - is that how you read it?
I read what planeboy quoted and it is saying the £1000 scrap trade in offer is eligible for.... and then they list VIP.
So they are saying "buy at VIP and you can have the £1000 scrap" and it also says "can be used in conjunction with..."
Ahhh now I see, it is badly worded, the conjunction with bit does not necessarily tie in with the VIP.
What they mean is (these are the terms applying to the 1000 scrap offer)
The scrap 1000 offer can be used in conjunction with the insurance,
The scrap 1000 can be used on the VIP
But they don't specifically say you can have all three.
It is poorly worded and ASA and trading standards might tell them to re word it properly.
Now I am off to the website to see for myself.0 -
Ok back,
I've changed my mind.
The chart you linked to has the ecoflex in yellow and the free insurance in yellow. Which means both are available to RRP instore deals, and VIP deals.
What it does not say is that offers cannot be combined.
When you click on insurance, it says eligible for VIP , but does not mention a conjunction with ecoflex.
When you click on VIP there is very little if any T&C.
When you click on ecoflex it says ok for VIP and can be used in conjunction with free ins.
As it stands it does not make it clear that the " in conjunction with" offer only applies to RRP and not VIP, so it is reasonable to assume that it applies to both.
As I said earlier, you will have difficulty in making them give you all 3 (VIP, ECOflex & INS) but you can reprt them to trading standards, and the ASA. ANd atleast they will change the wording.0 -
DJ - the way I read the terms I posted above was that you could have free incurance with the ecoflex on the VIP scheme - sounds odd when the VIP pricing is suposed to be stripped of all extras though.0

Glad it's not just me that's confused
I definitely agree that there's nothing to say that they can't be combined. I'm going into a dealership this lunchtime to have it out with them and try to bully them into giving me both offers - wish me luck!0 -
Except they are not responsible for what it says on the website, that is vauxhall uk's responsibility.
Just to clarify:
Are they offering you both offers on the RRP (in store deals) but only 1 on the VIP deal?
Surely you want to push for the VIP + ins + ecoflex ? as it is probably a better offer.0 -
Except they are not responsible for what it says on the website, that is vauxhall uk's responsibility.
Exactly, the dealerships only sell Vauxhall cars, they are not actual Vauxhall.
Kind of like trying to "bully" Tesco because the Ambrosia rice pudding website is wrong. Better to ring Ambrosia (Vauxhall) direct and try to "bully" them.

Well I placed a VIP order and went down to the dealership with printouts (all VIP orders still need to go through a dealership) - after a bit of back and forth (I wasn't nasty
) they agreed that I should be able to get both deals with the VIP, and I got it in writing on the car order form which clearly states that it forms a contract - so I've just got to wait until end of November for the car to be delivered and actually hand over the cash, and I should be clear . . . I hope.
If it comes to handover time and Vauxhall refuse to give me both deals, the fact that I've got them in writing should give me a bit of leverage . . .
Thanks everyone for your advice, I'll let you know what the outcome is in November0
