You can get windows tinted for very little money.
After a few years at can start to look tatty and however good the initial installation, it is still possible to damage the film especially if you carry a dog in the vehicle.
If the dealer was intending on getting an aftermarket film applied, they should really have told the OP about this before they ordered.0 -
When we ordered a new car we asked fro particular option.
The salesman insisted it was available on the model we chose despite it not being included in the brochure. We pointed this out to him but he insisted it was available.
When my husband went to collect the car it didn't have this option. It was not available on this option and the factory just produced the car without it. Nobody contacted us to advise us.
It was a different salesman who dealt with him.
My husband told him he could keep the car as it was not what we wanted. He was speechless and didn't believe my husband meant it but yes, he didn't want it. He wanted what we had asked for.
Result, one very unhappy salesman left with a new car.
He had to order a new car , next model up, to get the option.
The salesman did say that the guy that sold us the first one no longer worked there. I wonder why?0 -
Is your wife a drug dealer, or planning a new career as one? :cool:0

You might actually get somewhere with Toyota on this. We did with the boot on our Auris Touring.
I'd made it clear about being able to easily get a bike in and out the back - looking at various models and bodystyles in the showroom - and made a point about liking the really robust flat floor in the Touring (Estate). And lets face it, the important point about an estate is the boot ... if it wasn't important to you you'd get a different body style.
Floor looked like this : http://cdn1.carbuyer.co.uk/sites/carbuyer_d7/files/styles/16x9_720/public/toyota_auris_estate_18.jpg?itok=Q8q27Sff
What we got when it came to collection was like this : https://images.cdn.autocar.co.uk/sites/autocar.co.uk/files/styles/gallery_slide/public/toyota-auris-touring-boot-space.jpg?itok=fRb1DA-0 with a sunken (and flimsy over the spare wheel) floor and a step where the seats fold down.
After a quite polite but frank discussion in the dealership, and at a cost to them (about £1300 retail for the parts apparently - though obviously less for a franchised dealer), we have the nice, solid but obviously expensive to produce therefore cancelled boot floor from the earlier design.0 -
I would have though Toyota dealers were used to people asking for privacy glass/tinting.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

If you are going by the brochure, the options may have changed since it was printed - they often do.
Personally I'd pay extra not to have privacy glass !0 -
My current car has factory privacy glass.
At first I thought it looked really stupid with only half the windows black, and I can't see a thing reversing at night, but I have to say that I don't notice the looks anymore as I bee-line for the drivers door and jump in. (I just don't reverse at night)
It definitely makes it hard for the local scrotes to see what valuables are strewn over the rear seats, (so they likely just smash the glass anyway on the off-chance) and it is noticably cooler in the sunshine.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

I still think it does.
Many years ago I had a Black Mk4 Golf GTi as a company car. I wanted tinted windows but all round (except the screen). I had them done after market with a tint that was lighter than usually used for rears but a shade darker than allowed for fronts. It looked a lot better than the half and half look. It lasted well in my keeping and the lease company didn't raise an eyebrow when it went back to them. You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0 -
What does your wife get up to 'in the back'?0
