hey guys the wife and i have recently had a baby and iv just looked into claiming for tax credits filled out the online form/calculator and it came back with £0. i honestly thought we would of been entitled to some help.
we both work full time (wife now on mat leave since 9th jan)
non of us are disabled, our total home income is £35k when the wife isnt on mat leave.
just venting my frustraion thats all
I'm so sorry that £637 per week isn't enough to live on. Shocking there are no state handouts for this level of income
Have you tried have a load more kids? These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0 -
So you think everyone who has a baby should be entitled to state benefits, The state didn't ask you to become a mother/father.
What support do you like, Tax credits is for people with low incomes or disabled children etc, You just said you don't have disabled person in your house, And with a 35k year income. No way will you be entitled to state handouts.0 -
You should get child benefit.0

Come on folks...he's just 'venting his frustration'

OP.... PLEASE do not refer to your wife as *the* wife.:p
Bet you wouldn't say that about your car.0 -

no not at all, just find it frustrating that people seem to be able to get better support than others.my sister and her husband rent a house both work full time have 2 kids and they get tax credits as her husband has apparnt mental health issues0 -

no that amount of money is ample to live on thankyou, but is nearly slashed in half now my other half is on mat leave, and no we have only just recently had one child thankyou so we are quite happy bringing this little one up for now.0 -
You don't get tax credits for having mental health issue. You can get an extra element of tax credits if you have a disability and receive a qualifying benefit. Plus they have 2 kids.0

I get DLA for mental health issues. I'd give back every penny and more to be fit and healthy.
Get that chip off your shoulder and thank your lucky stars that you and your family are well and happy.0 -
