Do you actually want to use the phone, or just get it working as a matter of principle?
If it was as a matter of principle, would carefully in the open garden butcher the phone battery, then connect leads to the phone battery and put the connections to a regulated supply, or voltage regulator connected up to a normal duracell type batteries put into a battery holder. Not the prettiest but....0 -
