Batteries after 15 years

I am trying to renovate my old Nokia Communicator 9000i phone and have found an old BLK-4S Li-Ion battery for it - It has not run for 15 years - I have placed a 99p bid on a OEM charger on Ebay and await a win
I don't expect the battery to hold a charge - but will it run the phone when charging ?

google shows you can still get batteries here from emtcompany.com/nokia-blk-4s-battery-replacement-3-7v-800-mah/blk4s.html
The question is why??? Will this work on todays network as all signals these days are digital (to my knowledge) but 20-ish years ago they were analogue0 -
No it will not work - but I just want to see it running again!!google shows you can still get batteries here from emtcompany.com/nokia-blk-4s-battery-replacement-3-7v-800-mah/blk4s.html

that nokia had a sim card , it was a digital phone , not analogue http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_9000_communicator-16.php0

so it will still work - just very slowly.....0 -
Thought the first set of digital phones had two channels, one for unencryptred analogue voice and the second for digital control data.
The next spec after made the voice digital and now scanners were no longer able to intercept the audio???0 -
My first experience of a mobile phone was in 1996 I think - a big Bosche brick that took a full credit card sized SIM card, and had a new service called SMS. Even that was in the digital days, so any Nokia Communicator is easily safe.0

My old Nokia 9000i was purchased in 1997 at a cost of £800 by my employers !!
I have ordered an adapter to allow it to charge from Ebay and an OEM charger (won for 99p) - so I will soon have it up and running again - it has not been run for at least 15 years so may be dead but fingers crossed !!0 -

Try reviving the battery first and then it may accept a charge from the phone charger - see here
Tried both of those - no good - battery obviously too far gone (not used since 2002) - looking for replacement - only seem to be available (at huge cost) from USA
But how do they send them to UK ?
Rechargeable batteries are on the banned list for mail aren't they ?0
