Good Morning chums just hung out the washing load that I did last night for a good blow. Looks bright and quite mild here in the south east and due to get quite balmy later up to about 14-15c
:)That will really get the garden going.
DGS Mikeys Brownies turned out lovely and he sent me a photo of them.Lot of faffing about with melted chocolate and butter in one bowl and eggs and sugar in another and in a third the cocoa and flour .must be a more simple recipe for brownies Anyone ???
DGS Danny and his wife Hayley are popping in later as they will be flying off to NYC next Tuesday to live for a couple of years I am hoping he will get the opportunity to get back here occasionally even for a few days
We will all miss him dreadfully I think.
Eldest DD and her OH are flying home tomorrow from the U.S. bearing lots of retail therapy no doubt
I am trying to do some decluttering this morning of paperwork which seems to have accumulated since Christmas Going to minimise as much as possible Plus I have my rolling food budgets to sort out I am listing various prices of stuff that I have got since the start of the year and working out via a spreadsheet exactly how much is being spent just on food alone, and seeing where odd amounts seem to be creeping in and why.
I have got the shopping down to three times a month which isn't too bad but I think stock control needs tightening up a bit as my cupboards seem to be still too full:):)
I took a fair amount of baking stuff to DDs yesterday hence the reason why my DGS Mikey managed to fill up all of his Mum's baking tinshe made small iced fairy cakes ,choc chip cookies ,rock cakes and a huge dish of brownies. That helped to sort out quite a bit of stuff.
I am going to sort out all of the herbs and spices I have on one shelf ,there seems to be quite a bit of 'doubling' up where I thought I was out of something and I find a pot at the back unopened Its so annoying when that happens. So today is 'check top shelves 'morning:) Not being very tall, things get pushed to the back far too easily
So it will be a busy day although no need to go to the shops thank goodness Next and last shopping trip this month will be on Wednesday I think:):)
Hope you all have a good weekend and you get to see a bit of spring sunshine
Cheers chums

Morning everyone - thanks to dumpling for starting the thread and hugs to anyone who wants or needs one.
Elderly pooch decided that an early rise was the order of the day so I've been up for a good while.
It's dull and wet just now but hopefully it will dry up later.
I've some admin stuff to do today and having a wee experiment of cooking pork ribs for one in a casserole dish inside my slow cooker but apart from that no real plans. I've half a notion to make some hollandaise sauce to have with the remaing asparagus but might just go with the much easier (and more economical) option of a soft boiled egg to dip the spears in.
Time for another cuppa - hope everyone has a good day x0 -
Morning All
Hope you get the shower sorted out soon dumpling. Your girls seem to have embraced the challenge.
The funeral was ok yesterday, very sad of course but everyone coped well with their readings. Glad it's over, it's been a long time waiting.
Quite a few of the staff came here last night for a few drinks which was a good way to end the day.
I'm off to DDs in a bit to start painting whilst she is away, I may stay there tonight so I can get an early start tomorrow.
Have a good weekend everyone, take care. XX0 -
TA Have you looked online for poppies, a quick google showed a few florist suppliers and ebay and amazon have them as well.
AOD, I'm with you, I can't force down a meal that I find horrid. DH sometimes has a fail but I can't pretend that it's not.
DH hasn't gone to the gym today because he wants to get on with the shed base. I shall go down to see DS' cat and then get on with cleaning the upstairs before Sis-i-L comes to stay on Monday.
DD said that Thames Water, who took a test sample of their supply last week have said that they will replace their lead piping from the meter to the mains for free, I hope they do it soon.0 -
Morning everyone
Long time no speak but I do read your news most days.
Weekend of cleaning and decluttering for me which I am sadly looking forward toIll start with the basics today but tomorrow I want to be entering the room of doom which is my office. I am pretty disgusted at how cluttered I have allowed it to become and its at the stage now where I wont work in there because I have no where to sit  On top of this I also need to sort out some clothes for charity which I find really difficult to do as I always manage to convince myself that even though I havent worn this item for goodness knows how long if ever I will probably really want to wear it tomorrow so I had best keep it .....mmmmm Anyway managed a whole bag full last weekend so hoping to match that this weekend.
Its quite nice and dry here today so the bedding is in the washing machine and will be on the line for the first time this year later. I love bedding that has dried outside so fingers crossed it can be like that from now on
Food wise I had a lovely dinner last night of scampi chips and mushy peas which is one of my favourites I had no tartar sauce in a jar so I made some and it was a revelation...so much nicer than the jarred stuff but then thats no great surprise eh
I am on a mission to empty the freezer so not sure what will be to eat this weekend but I fancy a sunday roast type meal so will stick my head in there soon to decide.
Enjoy your weekends everyone0 -
Morning everyone,
Fairly early start as we have both DGC here.DGD has a horrible cough which woke her up but we left DS to deal with her, consequently he is a bit grumpy this morning.Shame she's feeling a bit sorry for herself as its half term here, but they are going to a trampolining place later, then a party:rotfl:
Not sure what we are up to,DH fancies going out later for something to eat:)
Lyla hasnt been out yet so better remedy that, its raining though.
Dumpling hope you feel better soon.
Have good days allxx

Good morning,
Dumpling thank you for starting the thread.
Had a good night sleep so this morning I was on breakfast duty here at home, makes a change from having DH doing it as he is the usual breakfast cook here. DH got tea and toast with jam and DS, who came last night and stayed overnight, got coffee and buttered crumpets, in bed, for a treat. He works so hard, poor boy, I love spoiling him a bit when he is here.
I will make my own breakfast shortly, then it's the case of motivating myself to go to the gym, even if it is the super cheap dr. referral I am still paying monthly. And I really need to do it. Ok, I have written it and I commit here that I will go.
Later, no plans, just pottering which suits me fine. Might put a wash on as the weather is dry and mild.
Food plan: breakfast is scrambled egg and salmon, lunch is going to be goats cheese salad and dinner veg stir fry with tofu, I hope DH will agree to do the chopping because he is Mr Precision and cuts everything perfectly equal. I have to leave the kitchen when he chops veg because it goes on my nerves (because I am clumsy and cut in great disorderly lumps compared to him LOL).
Hugs to all who need them and well wishes to the poorlies.
Have a good day. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread Dumping, I hope your shower gets sorted soon.
AOD, lol it seems you were shoeless rather than showerless.
Dgd is here, we've been up since 7 so not bad, we've had breakfast and then we popped out to buy a birthday card for the oldest dgs, he's 18 and spends some time with his birth family. Dgd is now watching Farthing Wood on YouTube whilst I've started another crochet project, a unicorn.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Back again, feeling slightly more human than I did at silly o clock this morning.
Dumpling Great that your DD's meals went well and they enjoyed it. A great thing for them to do.
Gers Your DM's life story sounds very interesting. Good luck to her with her writing.
Well, I cleaned last night so no cleaning to do, just a load of washing hung up outside. I am hoping to go for a run, but I'll see how I feel.
I have friends coming round tonight for a catch up, wine and food. Really looking forward to it especially as we are going to have an Indian Take-away. I've been wanting one for ages but it's expensive so I haven't...but more justifiable when I have visitors, and they want take out curry too.....Can't wait
Nelski good luck with the decluttering
Take care all'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Misty morning again, late waking up, no alarm at the weekends. Showered and washed my hair, feel more human now.
No plans for the day OH had hoped to get out to the garden, but thats not going to happen.
Trying to sort my head out re an outfit for DGD's wedding in October. I want something I can wear again, not lace and with sleeves. The wedding is at a posh venue, do not want to let the side down. DD1 already has her dress apparently. DGDA is dying to go shopping with me.......no way, I would end up backless, frontless, sleeveless and skirt up to my bum!! Hardly worth putting on, although I think my sturdy knickers and bra might cause a stir, plus the wobbly bits.....hardly bears thinking about.:D:eek::eek:
I will continue to sew the binding on the play mat this afternoon, I hate hand sewing but do not like the look of machine sewing on either the back or front; so it has to be done.
Cheese pie and mixed veg for supper tonight, think OH can manage to cook that. He enjoyed his semolina last night. It tastes like wall paper paste to me...yuk.....0
