I'd call for the PAC on the 15th March, and use it on the 11th April. The reason I would leave it till the 15th March not the 10th is to allow for any problems with the new company not getting the transfer done on the 12th April.

As far as giving 30 days notice, I don't think there is any harm is saying it when you phone for your PAC. You can at least say you did give 30 days notice, even if the PAC over rides it.

Not if - it does. And saying you gave 30 days' notice and then asking for a PAC is a waste of time and misleading.

OK, perhaps I should have written 'even though the PAC over rides it'.

I would still say make sure your PAC runs a few days beyond your minimum term, as I said earlier.

I just know mobile companies will try every trick in the book to 'accidentally' cause you to stay a little longer.

Are you sure that the plan goes up to £34.99 at the end of the 12 months. They normally carry on at the same rate (+RPI increase) after the end of the minimum term.

That's what they told me, my plan shows as £34.99 on my online account but I get charged the discounted rate of £19.99 instead.

No. Call on 11th March and ask for a PAC. Then exerices it towards the end of the 30 days. If you fail to exercise it the contract will continue (DON'T give notice to cance AND request a PAC or the cancellation notice is void). Beware; the deal you want may not still be available when you are ready to switch to a new contract.

Thanks mobilejunkie, I'll make a note to call then. Will have a look at what's around at the time.

If you are happy with EE haggle with their retentions team once you have a competitive offer from another provider.

I didn't know you could haggle on the Sim Only deals, I'll give that a go. I was thinking it was just the contract deals they'd change with the price of the handset etc. but suppose it makes sense they can alter the sim only too.
Happy with them generally, not had any major issues but have been with them since they were One2One in 1997 so none the wiser on other networks.

I thought RPI increase was only for plans that include a handset.

This is what they sent me yesterday:

    Hello,
We’re getting in touch to let you know about the Retail Price Index (RPI) change to your monthly price plan(s), which will take effect from 30th March 2017. RPI is a measure of the change in prices for consumers on average across the country over the last 12 months. The RPI figure published by the Office for National Statistics in January 2017 is 2.5%.

    Numbers impacted:
    XXXXXXXXXXX

    What this means to you?
Any bills you receive from 30th March 2017 will show a 2.5% increase in the monthly price of your plan(s). Below we’ve listed some of our popular price plans to give you an idea of how your price plan(s) will change.
table-top_RPI_4.jpg£14.99 2.50% £0.37 £24.99 2.50% £0.62 £34.99 2.50% £0.87 All prices include VAT and if you want to calculate the new price of your plan click here to visit our website and input your plan charges.

We appreciate that price rises are never welcome but we want to reassure you that we’re dedicated to giving you the best possible experience, including: • Investing in bringing you the UK’s biggest and fastest network • Ensuring all customer service calls are now answered in our UK and Ireland call centres • Helping you to stay in control of how much you spend with built-in data caps For more information, please refer to clause 7.4 of your EE network terms (or clause 7.1.4 if you have joined or upgraded with us before 11 November 2015) which can be found here. I'd double-check that with them. I have a (origianlly) 12 month sim contract and assumed the discount (equal at the time to the cost - making it totally free) would drop off at the end of the minimum term (12 months). Then it occurred to me that (since it was free AND included ALL 08 numbers in the bundle) I'd make sure. I called and they confirmed it was a Loyalty discount so would carry on beyond the minimum term. I got then to confirm that by text.

Thats was about two years or more ago. Discount still there, all 08 numbers still included in the bundle and now costs me nearly 50p per month since there have been some RPI increases in that time (but not always).
