Car modding... Whats that all about then?

What the fcuk do some of these people think their cars look like.

The usuall is BOOM BOOM BOOM coming from the car stereo (you often hear this ages before you see the car itself).

If its not the stereo booming, its the exhaust you hear a mile away.

Then when you catch sight of the car (windows have a dark tint all round).

Body kitted to high heaven and eyebrows on the headlights.

Car has to stop at traffic lights (eagarly waiting to pull off when green with wheels spinning)

Look how cool i am they're thinking.

What a Pr**k im thinking.

I know (he's my son)

Or yours, or boyfriend husband.

Even girls are getting in on the act.
I came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.

I don't really have a problem with them tbh - they don't normally hold me up at least :)

I *do* hate it when they sound like suped-up lawn mowers, or when the bass shakes the bodywork though.

I never understood why they buy rubbish cars then spend £5000 on stereos and bodykits and paintjobs.

Why not just buy a decent car to start with, rather than a tarted up Corsa?

    Money!

Once they buy their car and pay for insurance they have no money left. Fair play to them as a lot of them do save to buy that piece-of-junk-bodykit. Whilst the cars aren't to my taste I do appreciate the time and effort they put into making them what they are.

agreed, i remeber seeing a corsa with one of those tvr paint jobs that changes colour the way you look at it had to cost 4-5 k, ad that to the cost of a corsa and you are getting close to a real tvr, then you dont need to mod as you have one of the coolest cars on the road.

the feeling i get is firstly insurance costs and secondly the daft idea some people have that dinky wee cars which handle marginally better round twisty tracks are cool regardless of the fact they will never see a track and hardly touch b roads.

There are lot of bad taste cars out there, but the idea is simple enough to understand. There are a fair few stealth cars out there with uprated suspension, brakes and power.

Yes, you could often buy a better car with the money straight up, but not always. Improved performance is actually quite cheap, but manufacturers will charge a premium for it. So it can be very MSE.

Personally, when I had a lot more power to weight I really enjoyed the disparity between the actual performance of my car compared with what people expected. Made me grin a lot of times.

There is a huge differance between boy racer and modded car though.

I have never seen a modded car with personality. You see all the same Citroen s**itboxes on the road with the same lexus rear lights, the 6x9" holes in the rear parcel shelf with speakers in, same rear spoilers and skirts/bumpers etc. I see very few individual cars. Best individual car displaying some kind of personality I saw recently was an old MGB with a sticker in the rear window which read "Sell my MG? I'd rather shove wasps up my !!!!"

They all drive crap 1 litre cars like citroen saxo's or corsa's with the same bits from Halfords.
