Probably not reflective of cost, but I fear you won't get anywhere with this one apart from a bit of satisfaction from making a fuss over how totally unfair it is.

Agree with you. But I can give them !!!!!! publicity and warn people against parking in this particular car park.

Refused to let you out = against the law. POFA 2012, falls foul of 'vehicle immobilisation'

I've had a look at this and I'm guessing that they would argue that all I needed was a replacement token and I would be free to leave. What I'm less clear about is how much is reasonable to charge for a token?

    £25 seems like extortion.

That's why the law was changed in 2012 to make demanding money in order for a car to be released, illegal. Read the law on the ban on vehicle immobilisation which defines it as preventing a driver from being able to leave (or words to that effect).

OK - thanks. Well I've complained to my MP so I'll forward that piece of information to him. It might help.

Honestly, I don't know how these people sleep at night.

I forwarded the specific law. http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2012/9/section/54/enacted

    Very useful thanks.

My hope is that they use this law, or if it isn't tight enough for this particular circumstance, amend the law so that future people don't get caught in the same way.
