Defaulted account

Options
Hi,

My boyfriend has a defaulted account on his credit report (experian). I need some clarity on this. The default date is Nov 2014 yet this default has only appeared today. The previous reports (even yesterday) do not list this so why wasn't it showing months if not years ago from when the default was first created?

We are looking to secure a mortgage and now I am worried of unexpected default accounts especially if it takes 3 years to update experian...

Thanks in advance.

  • The provider may have just started reporting to Experian. Did it previously appear on your other CRA files?

Did the account in question appear on your Experian file previously (without the default)?
  • Hi,

It hasn't appeared at all before on Experian. And I have checked other CRA like middle of equifax if that's what you mean?
  • Middle I meant
  • Try again lol NODDLE auto correct
  • Is it an account you recognise?
Does the agreement allow them to report to the CRA (it probably does, but they haven't to date)?
    Is the default satisifed?
If not, do you intend to satisfy it?

Did you boyfriend add some old addresses?

So the default isn't showing on Noddle or Clearscore?

I presume you are signed up to Experian's Credit Expert service if you are able to see reports daily?

  • Done some more digging and signed him up to clear score and it does show on there but for a different amount outstanding, Experian says £98 but clear score says £258. Yes I have got the daily report and yes the credit links to an old adf
  • Address, it is an account he recognises so I'm presuming the best thing to do is to settle it? I know it won't come off for 6 years now though.
