O/S Daily Friday 17 February 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark here, damp underfoot, but mild for the time of year.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work, DS2 still in his pit.
Dinner last night was roast chicken portions, mash, brussels, carrots, peas, stuffing and gravy, apple strudel and custard/cream for dessert. Tonight the menfolk are having pies, chips, peas and gravy, I'll be having jacket potato and salad.
Yesterday I wasn't overly productive, although the upstairs did get hoovered, downstairs will get done today. I did keep going with the washing and drying, ironing needs to be done today. I visited the butchers and spent a bit, but portioned it all up and put in freezer bags, so freezer is now better stocked.
Today I'll be shopping first thing, home and get the shopping put away, I want to get the beds stripped, washed and remade, then do some baking/cooking, I want to try to keep busy today, as yesterday I could feel my mood dip, as I just wasn't really doing/achieving anything, all my get up and go, seems to have got up and gone! Keeping busy certainly seems to help me. I did sit for a while with my cook books trying to find some different recipes - I also did try a new recipe for a pasta salad type dish - DS2 tried it and liked it, so I've sent DH off with a lidded bowl full for his lunch - he's been asking if he could have a change from his normal salad, so if he likes this, it's another alternative for the list.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, I'll be off to work soon and it will be a challenging day. Yesterday was good, one of the more interesting and engaging training days that I've been to in a long while.
I've had several good night's sleep but not necessarily last night, oh well. Weekend soon and then, as I've worked different days recently I'll be doing short week next week.
Last night's dinner was a meaty hotpot thing for them and a piece of very dried up chicken for me, I think it dried up as OH was trying to get everything ready at the same time. All my own fault for not liking meaty hotpot and at least I wasn't expected to eat itm clearly he has learnt that I just pass my plate over to be shared out.
I keep thinking we've managed to eradicate the mice and each time they come back and it can take a while before they hurl themselves on the traps. At least it isn't rats, like tge rat we saw through the window at yesterday's training thing. Quite small but a rat nevertheless and not a very large mouse as some thought.
Hoping that everyone has a good or at least tolerable day today.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good morning everyone.
Wish I wasn't awake quite so early, and it's wet outside.
After the busy day yesterday I hope for a quieter one today. My only task is to get myself ready and drive down to Glasgow for an overnight visit.
The mincevi cooked yesterday is in the fridge. I'm did vacuuming and dusting yesterday too. No other jobs. My decorating neighbour suggested I get a heavy curtain up against the front door against the droughts - no idea why this didn't enter my own tiny mind!
Camelot - it's a horrible day for a terrible event, wrap up warm, wear your purple with pride and get through it. Xx
Happy Friday to all.0 -
Good Morning chums, dark still at the moment but not cold at least. I feel a lot better today thank goodness and actually had a good sleep (well good for me as I slept without waking fir five hours which is good
)
Dentist check up with the boys this morning, and myself Deep joy :)although I really don't mind that much just takes up most of the morning. Then back to their house to bake some more cookies with DGS Mikey. We made some yesterday with crushed up oreos instead of chocolate chunks, and he pronounced them ace.
He is the Oreo king and my DD will bring him some assorted ones back from the US next weekend when she comes home .
Next Tuesday is getting closer when DGS Danny and his wife will jet off to their new life in NYC.I am happy that they have got the opportunity, just sad its so far away.Still it won't be forever.
Right, a large cup of tea is on the cards at the moment .I had two boiled eggs and crackers last night for dinner ,very bland, but nice comfort food for a wobbly tummy
Hope everyone has a great day, another week gone and only 26 weeks until our family holiday on the IoW:):)
Cheers chums

Morning All
Thank you Gers, it'll be a tough day for all.
Once I get back from the funeral I have to take DD and her BF to the airport, they are off to South Africa for 3 weeks lucky spuds. When they are dropped off I'll hot foot it home before the visitors arrive - no idea how many but we'll have our own celebration of our colleague's life.
House all spick and span, washing on the pulley (still love it, what a difference it has made), just me to get showered and dressed into the purple top that makes me look somewhat ill! I've even painted my nails purple.
Happy Friday everyone, take care. XX0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Tossing and turning night for me, bah.
Youngest DGD6 up with me and watching some rubbish on kids tv. The other two will be to waken shortly then let the fun begin! Why do I end up a frazzled wreck by the time they are getting thrown in the car for school! Half term for our lot next week and thankfully DD has taken days off work to cover!
We have Leeds today for Mr TA's six monthly scan to see if the Liverpool therapy is halting growth of his tumours or if any changes. Appointment for the results next Thursday. It's going to be a long week waiting and I am feeling churned up already.
We don't need to leave till early afternoon so just time for a whizz round with the duster and vac this morning and a bit of lunch. The bathroom and kitchen will have to wait till tomorrow. No idea what dinner will be tonight. Maybe we will eat in Leeds before heading for the train back.
Have a good day folks and (HUGS) to those wanting one. Thinking of the poorlies, sad and worried. CAMELOT today will be a sad one, I hope it goes as well as it can. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning.
Another who is awake too early!
I managed to get for a swim last night but felt quite light headed after, despite having a banana beforehand, so was glad to get home.
I was really hungry so had a bit of a scoffathon. I made a healthy tomatoy, mixed veg and chilli pasta sauce and served with spaghetti and lots of grated cheese on top. I had 2 very healthy portions but still felt hungry so had a couple of large ciabatta rolls and butter as well
I'm not sure this exercise business is a good idea if all it does is make me hungry!!
Work today then hopefully I'll get my weekly clean done so i don't have to do it tomorrow.
Have a good day all and take care.'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Morning all.
Mice....haha reminds me of when I was little. We would go and spend Christmas with my Grandma. She had this big old house that stood beside a disused railway track. One day as I was getting my clothes out of the chest of drawers a mouse jumped out at me. I don't think we went much after that.:D
At church we had mice. Never saw one thankfully but saw plenty of evidence.
All is well with me. Didn't hear the men go to work this morning. I must have been dead to the world. Was dreaming about Mom most of the night in between waking with a twitchy bladder. I'm wondering if the effects of these water tablets are still working throughout the night.
Onwards and forwards

Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc, hugs Camelot and anyone else in need.
We had visitors last yesterday so I had a late night but was still awake before 6.
I'm on the final round of DD1's crochet waistcoat, then I have the sleeve edgings to do and the ends to weave in.
More boaty stuff to sort out today, we've arranged the survey, the blacking and a few other bits but the list seems never ending.
I need to collect a repeat prescription today and get it filled ans DGD9 may be staying the night tonight.
Have good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning everyone, thanks to nmlc for starting the thread and hugs to those who need or want one.
Another one here with a broken night and early start thanks to elderly pooch who needless to say is now out cold in his basket.....
Mild but a bit murky here though hope to get my wheels aired later.
No real plans - cleaning the house and having my friend over yesterday has left me a bit tired and unsteady to I think today will need to be a quiet one though I do need to go through my veg stocks and freeze some bits and pieces.
LO smoked salmon for lunch today yum and baked chicken thighs with some of the lovely asparagus and broccoli my friend brought over tonight.
Hope everyone has a good day x0 -
Morning all,
Nice bright day here and feels quite mild.
Hope all goes well today Camelot xx

I have a day off today as I am off to the breast clinic to get my lump checked out, my dd is coming with me she took the day off to come which is really sweet of her, if all good we will get a spot of lunch out somewhere.
I also need to pick my new blender up from the next village where they have opened a tiny Tesco express, its quite handy for deliveries and forgotten bits of shopping, I cant wait to try some smoothies.
Right better get on have good days all xx0
