  • I think we should go back to having the metal studs in the road. If you were past them when the light went amber you carried on, if you weren't you stopped.

Where did I say that Mr Strawman?

Section 28 and 29 of the RTA 1988 cover bikes already offers a catch-all that covers bikes

1847 Town Police Clauses Act covers "riding furiously" - bikes were confirmed to be carriages in Taylor v. Goodwin (1879)

Offences Against the Person Act 1861 covers "wanton or furious driving or racing" if it causes an injury and was used as recently as 2013 against a cyclist on the pavement who hit a child

I see no reference to speed limits here. At what speed does the Act say the cyclist is "riding furiously"? 15mph? 20mph? 5 mph?

Later Acts with reference to speeding refer to motorised vehicles. If you could say that the legs on a cyclist are their motors, then high standard sprinters might get a ticket when they are out training in a 20mph zone.

If you are going to post in an aggressive fashion perhaps you should be closer to factual.

It's crazy isn't it? There are cyclists round here who don't even fit windscreen wipers to their vehicle. Terrible behaviour. ;)

Presumably you like cyclists who text while speeding.

It's fairly obvious that had the cyclist passed the light on amber, then the driver's light would NOT of been green.
How is it obvious? If the cyclist did go through at amber, it's perfectly feasible that the drivers light changed to green while the cyclist was still on his way through the junction.

Depending on how slow the cyclist was travelling, and how wide the junction is, it's even possible to cycle through a junction just as it changes from green to amber and not be clear of the junction by the time one of other lights has changed to green.
