I had an early Karcher and bought a replacement a few years ago. It was half the weight of the old one. No doubt due to the plastic parts now fitted. That was replaced by a Nilfisk which beats the Karcher any day of the week.

Am I correct in thinking that the feed hose to ANY pressure washer must be a "solid" one - not a "flat" one ?

I think so also p/w do not like the hozelock adapters that stop the water when u disconnect the attachment not sure why but mine works better without

If you want to go for Karcher, look for one with the accessories you want and buy it. Ditto for Nilfisk. In all honesty, IMO the length of hose is important, as is the rate of flow of water.

I used to have the Nilfisk C120. It was great but broke down after five years having been used almost weekly to wash the car. I bought a 15m hose for it off ebay. It meant the pressure washer stayed inside the garage whilst I went around the car with the lance.

I replaced it with an E140 which is even better at cleaning but I can't get a longer hose for it. I'm stuck with the 9m one.

I thought that a 6m hose would be long enough for me ...
You are saying that even 9m is not enough ?

Depends on where/how you do things.

When I lived in the old house, the car had to washed on the road, and the pressure washer stayed in the garage. 15m was a long enough hose to around the car.

In the new house, the car is washed on the driveway. If I park in front of the garage, the pressure washer can stay in the garage and I can walk around the car with a 9m hose. If the wife is parked in front of the garage and my car is parked next to hers, the 9m isn't long enough.

Remember, I'm only keeping the pressure washer in the garage so it doesn't get wet. Not happy about mixing water and electricity so close together.

They should all be double insulated - so, whilst it is not advisable to submerge them in water - they should be capable of being "splashed" - after all that is their job !!
But, yes, I see your point....

Out of seven best buys from Which? five are all Nilfisk although they are more expensive than the two other lower scoring best buys made by Karcher.

Years of experience has taught me not to take much notice of Which? best buys. By all means read the reports but don't trust the conclusions.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.
