Fidor UK Bank smart account Frozen, advice needed please

They have given you a reason. It is a compliance review
A compliance review is just a review not a reason. What reason caused them to do the compliance review? Thats the $64000 question I am still waiting an answer for.
Sent them numerous emails and no reply apart from that unsatisfactory response PDF letter. They have not adhered to their own terms and conditions violating banking policies and regulations.0 -
Once again: google, 'cifas'.Fidor say they dont do credit checks so they don't have access to customers credit reports.
If they can't access customers credit reports they how is it possible for them to put a CIFAS marker on the customer's credit report?
It has nothing to do with 'credit'.
And, regardless, your question was about an account in general, not about Fidor account.0 -
Ok many thanks for everyone inputting their advice here. I keep you guys updated on what happens.0

Update...
Got another vague email response from Fidor bank:
Thank you for contacting Fidor Bank. As a financial institution, we have the legal right to offer and deny the usage of our accounts to customers when necessary. The compliance team appraise every customer’s account, and can determine customers that can and cannot offer an account based on their assessments. While we understand that this may seem difficult on your side, we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience as a result of this. Have a great weekend!0 -

The only assessment I can think of customers failing on is credit report/score assessments but I thought Fidor says they don't do credit checks. Confused.com
Have a great weekend!
Yeah right how can I have a great weekend when I cant access my money to have a great weekend you a*******. Cant even buy food let alone having a great weekend.
Seems you vampires are having great weekend with my money you stole. Give my money back Fidor I know you reading this.0 -
Really sorry this has happened to you. If you've been left in the position where you can't buy food, this is why it's sensible to have accounts at more than one bank. And/or back up plans such as a CC or small amount of cash at home.0

This "have a great weekend!" insult is verging on p 1ss taking. If you can find out who actually does regulate these criminals you should inform them of it.0 -
Recently been on the phone with Fidor and they said they still have no reason for blocking my account. I have just under a week left till my account is closed and it seems this is getting nowhere and I doubt this matter will be resolved before closure.0
-
Still no reason from them for blocking my account. No reply from the CEO Matthew either. All I know that they closed my account

Anyone reading this please think twice before signing up to Fidor and learn from my experience/mistake. Yes they dont do credit checks but there's always a catch involved.
There should definitely be a audit into that bank and also should be a national warning about them like on the watchdog tv programs.0 -
Same thing happened to me two days ago. Got an email out of the blue saying my Fidor debit card is blocked and "is no longer ready for use" and can't login anymore. Wrote to them twice, they're just silent.
Very interesting... @bery_451, what was the outcome in the end?0
