in Credit cards
question I have for all the canny folk out there...
can you pay bills (e.g. mortgage, gas, elec, broadband etc) with your credit card, in order to increase the airmiles / points / cashback on the credit card.
no issue with affordability and CC will be paid off in full each month.
family in texas do that for every purchase and bill they have, and manage to rack up a fair amount of airmiles as a result.

Some.
You'll need to check each one.0 -
Another point to note is that most companies offer a discount for using direct debit so by opting to choose to pay by card you would be losing that discount which in some instances can be up to £5 per month if not more.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. I don't think you can pay council tax using a credit card (you can't here anyway).0

My council offers the option to and I know several people who pay theirs by card too utilising 0% purchase cards etc. Sounds like your council is behind the times.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. I pay my council tax by credit card here don't get charged extra. I use a rewards card so I get a benefit for paying my council tax.
I also am able to pay my rent and season ticket by card.
I double up on rewards by making the direct debit to pay the card IN FULL come out of a rewards account.
Other bills are DD as costs more by CC.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0 -
It all depends on where you live, who your mortgage provider is, who your utility providers are etc etc
You will have to ask your council, your mortgage provider, each utility company etc individually if it is possible and if there will be any additional charge.0 -
Don't forget that you can earn rewards through many current accounts for paying your DD's making it a win win (win) ...
WIN1 - you get a DD discount with your utility company etc
WIN2 - you earn cashback with your bank
(WIN3 - your payments are automatically taken so you don't have the risk of missing a bill payment and that negatively impacting your credit file)
