Japan car import scam?

Hi!
I purchased a car using a Japanese registered used car dealer.
I sent him the money via Transferwise and to cut a long story short - he hasn't sent the car yet.
It's been 5 months now and he ignores my emails, calls etc.
He claims the vehicle is at the Nagoya Port and he's waiting on the shipping agent to confirm room on the ship - for 5 months!!!
Is there anything I can do to reclaim the money?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Unless you can confirm his correct name and address and are willing to travel to japan to attempt legal action, there's not really anything else that you can do.greensmoker wrote: »Is there anything I can do to reclaim the money?0 -
I don't think you can reclaim money with transferwise, as it is just for money transfer rather payment for named goods.
Why not name this car dealer?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

In the UK?
If so, post it on here and let knowledgable poeple do some digging to see if this might be a scam.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

I bet it's fake. He may well be impersonating a real person and using their details to add an air of authenticity.
From what you've said it sounds like you've been had.0 -
No the address is in Japan.
I actually do know 2 people who did import cars with him successfully so I'm kind of a bit hopeful.
How can i find out if he's gone bust?0 -
