Being conned by Virgin into a contract is there anything I can do?

On Wednesday 8th February my wife and I who is an employee for virgin gyms ordered a package by telephone from virgin media. We spoke to their sales team, we told him that we wanted to order a virgin tribe offer which was the Full house 200 from £55.00 to £45.00 on tribe. He told us he could take our order over the phone and was very friendly. He told my wife and me on separate occasions while ordering "all we had to do was go into our virgin gym and they could initiate the tribe discount for us from £55.00 to £45.00." This was said several times to each of us and we were never told whatsoever we could not do this. My wife unfortunately currently has a severe blood clot in her leg and so have been in and out of hospital. We went to her work to be told that his could not be done. So today we rang up virgin media again and was told that the sales team should not have done the sale over the phone for a virgin tribe order which he never mentioned and that it would be charged at £55.00. We were told that he had also not had the training and so should not have taken the order? Although he told us he had worked at virgin for nearly 10 years??? We were told it was tough and that we could cancel our contract and reorder in 7 - 14 days time even though the sales team willingly sold us the contract knowing we could not get the discount - I am guessing for his commission? He also gave us some "free" movies channels which I know believe we are being charged for? So from the phone call today I have learnt your sales team can happily miss sell your contracts to customers who are searching for help and its tough and you cannot do anything. I have asked for the phone call to be re-listened to but your team on the phone had no interest and told us to cancel the contract and reorder which we would be out of pocket without the free movie channels etc?????
Is there anything that can be done?

cancel it quick.
Your not missing out of free channels if you will be charged.
Best to only sign up when everything is written down in black and white0 -
Ask for call transcripts, it's up to them to prove the contract is what it is and that you agreed to this and not something else; if they cannot provide all the call transcripts that took place to back up their idea of the contract (rather than what you believed it was) then their contract cannot stand and if they try, contact their head office to make an official complaint and make sure you keep a tally of all the additional costs incurred if you do have to go down this route.0
