We stayed in a lovely place with little fire pits at each pitch, (it was actually not camping but "shed with a bed" as my children called it). But the negatives were.... The area to wash your plates had no hot water and no plug. They had community BBQ's, but a few were really close to one pitch (luckily we weren't at that one).

I would say have enough space between each, having children an area for them to play. Keep it clean.

Showers that are designed so you have somewhere to put your stuff where it doesn't get wet, a seat/bench to sit on whilst getting dressed, warm shower room and obviously clean.

Sheltered site with privacy. Little hedges between pitches is lovely, and not just for those wanting electric hookups.

A shelter that you can cook under if it's raining

Washing up area with child height sinks

    Parking next to the tent

No dogs in at least one field, and dogs on lead rule that is actually enforced.

An area where you can have a fire.

Washing machine and tumble drier (obviously for an extra charge)

    Silence hours that are enforced

Pitches that are large enough and not too packed in.

Clear prices, with not too many, but clear from the start extras

    Simple and secure online booking

Option of selective a specific pitch.

Do you intend to have caravans to?

If you do, we are avid caravanners.

Number one - showers and toilets. I am fed up with showers where you stand in a pool of water to get dry. How hard is it, to slope the floor towards the drain?

Number two - level site preferably grass for us, not keen on hard standing although best to offer both I suppose.

Number three - ideally a short walk into some sort of shopping area or somewhere where you can go for a stroll.

Number four - bushes and trees to give pleasant aspect.

    EHUs of course.

    That's about it.

    Our ideals would be:
Clean, hot showers with plenty of sinks.
Space around sinks to dry hair or put some make up on.(yes I'm camping but I still want to look reasonable)
Short walk to toilet block from the pitch for those night time visits if needed.
Nice big open space for kids to play around in, ideally a little play park or even some communal bat and balls that they can use.
Relaxed site with quiet time after 11pm.
Road/path for cars on the edge of the field to keep out of the way of kids.
Fire pits / built in stone plinth type thing for small barbecues at each pitch.
Good pitch size so I don't have to listen to the next tent snoring!
Ideally a small shop or cafe on site to buy essentials.
Electrical hooks up are essential for us.
Ice cream van allowed on site is a good shout to!
We like to have good walks and a nice pub nearby but that's more location than what's on site!
A website with lots of pictures is a great tool, especially if you can book online. If I can't find a site online I'm unlikely to book it as I wouldn't ever find it.
I can't think of anything I'd want to hire as such but I've seen sites that hire fire pits and marshmallow kits which is a great idea. Having a communal 'rainy day' space would be good, not necessarily indoors but maybe a big sheltered bit with board games, books, and other items to keep kids amused should the weather turn bad. Maybe with a shared sheltered cooking space too if needed.

    Lots of suggestions sorry!

    Spacious pitches
Large, clean, plentiful showers (not time limited or coin/token operated)
    Dish washing facilities
Fee per pitch (get fed up of having to work out total price, when people, cars, teenager, toddlers, gazebbo, car, third tuesday in a month ending with Y, has a seperate charge. So what looked like a £15pn pitch, now costs £37)
Electric hookup available at every pitch
Access to 3pin socket in toilet facilities for use of hair straightners/hair dryer
    Fast phone charger
