Oh and within the industry it was/is well known that at the time of the Santander / Abbey takeover, that their respective systems were tied together with pieces of string. So I would wager a fiver that any calls about this to Santander would be met with confusion and would probably end up chasing your own tail!

If your friend has managed to get credit elsewhere since that time then it doesn't sound like a CIFAS marker has been placed.

Yes it is worth her checking all 3 of the credit reference agencies because only then will she get a complete picture.

If your friend wants to improve her credit history, the only way would be to pay off debts and make sure all repayments are made on time, make sure she is on the electoral roll and all other info on her files is correct. That and a large deposit will go a long way.

It could very well be your friend is mistaken about the account being suspended and it just shows in her 'open' accounts section purely because there is still a positive balance remaining. Banks won't close an account just because it hasn't been used. Need to see screenshot to say for certain.
