Broken screen of z5 by shopkeeper

Options
Hi all,

I took my Sony xperia z5 to mobile repair shop to repair because screen needed to glue on. Before he could do that he dropped my phone and broke the screen which then stops functioning properly. He offered to change screen but asks that I have to pay 70 quid which I got reduced to 50.

I want to ask what rights I got because I think they should replace the screen for free as the shopkeeper broke it. What should I say to them to challenge.

Thanks in advance.

He owes you an unbroken, unglued screen to get you back to where you were, but that's not much use to you, is it? I'd pay him the £50 to glue in the new screen. How much were you going to pay him to glue your original screen?
  • I would have paid 5 quid or max 10. He was saying I was doing u favour for put glue on but I know it's not true. If they still ask for money, can I involve somebody like citizen advice or something.
    Cheers

Did you both agree this price before handing over the phone, forming a contract?
  • Before I could say something about price, he dropped the phone. He just looked at phone and said yeah I can put some glue on and he dropped it and he was trying to cover it up, he thought I didn't see it nd he was changing the screen protector.
I will try to fight to get price down when I will go to pick it up.
