Cancel O2 mobile contract without fees?

I have a contract with O2 which i am half way through, is it possible to cancel it with having to pay for the remainder of the contract?

No, you have agreed to the contract.

  • it depends actually, they were allowing people to cancel their contracts when they started to bill for 0845/0870 numbers, so you might get out of it that way

O2 have recently announced that they are to charge for non geographical numbers on all tariffs which may constitutes a change in your terms and conditions.

This means when you took the tariff out if your inclusive allowance included non geographical numbers or NGN's, then you would be entiteled to cancel your contract without notice or termination fee.

The reason for this is because they have chnaged the T & C's which will inturn cost you more than you originall thought (i.e.) you are now paying for NGN calls which were originally included within your minutes.

    Hope this helps you.

  • From what I've read they do at least do a cursory check to see if you've been calling non-geographical numbers before they let you cancel with no penalty. So if you use non-geographical numbers as a lever you've got to have either used them, or try to convince them that you need them in the future. I'm surprised that this works at all as no networks (in my knowledge, which is little.....!) support non-geographical numbers in their inclusive minutes any more, so you won't gain anything by leaving (they may spot a ruse).
If this has been of any use please click on THANKS, it makes me look good.

I got released from my O2 contract after researching other network operators rates for NGN's and finding O2 to be sometimes double their competitors.

I now am paying 50p less per month than I was on O2 for comparable inclusive minutes/texts but also with unlimited (well 1Gb) data usage too.
Hark at you going all strict :D
