Dealer saying impact damage - new to me
Options
Sorry long story. 4 month old car. Dropped key on door cill. Took it to a high end body repair centre. They did great job on cill but when checking car I noticed some powder near the headlight sprayer cut out. When I removed the powder in the show room it revealed some very light scratches/swirl marks on front bumper. They said it looked like a jetwash hose had scraped it - and they agreed to fix this and it was booked for 2 weeks later
3 days after this I noticed that after using windscreen washer there was a big leak coming from passenger side of engine bay. Took it to dealer who said the headlight sprayer was not popping out.
After taking it in today they are saying it is not a warrenty issue because a part of the pump has broken off. ie the pump had been broken rather than it being faulty. They say the only thing that could have caused this is impact damage.
I have not had a crash in it and the only other place it has been is tbe body repair centre.
Could impact damage to break this headlight washer pump leave so little damage to the bumper?
I took the car in to the body repair centre on the monday and collected it on the tuesday. I am thinking that if the body centre did have a shunt when they returned it to me they would have got rid of the powder that I noticed

Possibly damaged and covered up before you collected it. But try proving it.
How much is the part? Probably better off just getting another one yourself.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

You dropped a car key on the door cill and it actually damaged it enough to warrant a visit to a body repair centre?
Tried t-cutting it out and got a bit over enthusiastic and went through clearcoat0 -

I did consider that but i couldnt figure out how some one could have an impact and then not check it to remove as much evidence as possible. As i say - there was a lot of powder on the bumper.
It would have been easy enough to remove this when they moved it to the show room0 -
Thanks for replies. If the body repair centre agreed to replace the component would that invalidate the warranty if the car is on PCP?0

I suppose the only proof I have is that something happened due to the scratches0

They've repaired scratches and fixed a pump that had impact damage but there is still panel misalignment
Shoukd i go through trading standards or county court?0 -
