Are you sure it did not say of up to £xxx?
You applied for a credit limit and got one.
Why are you in such a panic about if a hard search was carried out? Why do you even think it was?
You are making a mountain out of a molehill.

Let's also not forget that over drafts are the devils spawn...

No honestly - it can be recalled at any point by the bank (I think you might get 30 days...) making it a very risky debt option. Sorry but I loathe them with a passion because I see a lot of people who have had their OD recalled with no warning and either scramble to get the funds to cover it or they end up defaulting which has an adverse effect on them. Try to stay well clear of your OD if at all possible!

    Hi Ben8282,

No panic, no mountains, just sharing my experiences with the MSE forum in the expectation that they would find them useful.

I simply think it is wrong that NatWest can state on my personal online banking page that I have been approved for an increased credit limit to a specific figure of £xxx and then decline it when I request it.

As regards the hard search I am interested to find out the impact on me of NatWest's curious behaviour.
