Any more suggestion on Australian Sim?0 -
I have a Telstra one. It works but I can't really say more than that.
I bought it out there but they are available on Ebay. For example...

That one will only cost you $30 if you wait and buy one in Coles or Woolworths etc.0 -
For calls to/from the UK Three include Oz in their "feel at home" countries giving 3p per min calls to the UK and no charge to receive calls.
It doesn't include cheap calls to local numbers while roaming unfortunately though. You can use F.A.H. with pay as you go, but think you would need to convert a top up to a bundle before you go.0 -

I've used my Three PAYG phone in Australia and calls back to the UK cost 3.3p per minute. 0.3p more than usual. Receiving calls is free. Local calls are £1.40 a minute.
No need for a top up or a bundle.0 -
Try to get access to Telstra for good rural coverage.

I have the same issue going to Aus. I'd identified Telstra as the best PAYG option -but what's a MVNO?0

MVNO , virtual network operator , they brand it ALDI but its piggy backed on Telstras network so ALDI don't actually have a mobile network
happens here , Tesco and GiffGaff MVNO on O2 networkEx forum ambassador

Many thanks for this tip.
Although I use 3 in the UK I shall need to make a number of local phone calls while out in Oz and this looks ideal for my requirements.0
