What you need to have in your store cupboard is an individual thing and will depend on your cooking habits and the food that you like to eat but there's an earlier thread with other people's suggestions and lists that may help so I've added your post to it to keep the ideas together.
These threads may help too:

Alritey,
Posted this on the Food board but suggested trying here too...
For various reasons have found myself living on my own in a very sparse/empty flat. No joke, the cupboards are bare!
Making a tomato sauce for pasta last night and realised I had no garlic to add in, which got me onto thinking - what are the basics/essentials that you can't do without in your food cupboard? I just mean things like spices, sauces, condiments, herbs, pickles etc. Not meat, eggs, milk and so on.
Off to Sainsos shortly so any input appreciated. I suspect there will be some leftfield suggestions too - all the better!
Will get tin opener & strainer too. The tin of tuna won the battle this morning...

Tubes of Tomato puree and Garlic puree can be used for lots of thing. I keep it in the fridge after opening and it lasts for quite a while.0

We always keep onion, garlic, sea salt, pepper, curry powder, chilli powder and gravy stored in the cupboards just in case.0

Tinned toms, dried pasta, garlic cloves in a jar (Tesco), fresh chilli in a tube, fresh ginger frozen into cubes (Tesco), Tilda basamati rice, fresh basil in a tube, fresh corriander in a tube.
I keep lots of happy chicken breasts & 5% fat mince in the freezer.0 -
Hi,
I'd suggest tinned tomatoes, tomato puree, garlic puree, stock cubes (beef, veg & chicken does just about everything), curry, chilli, mixed herbs, cinnamon, mixed spice, soy sauce, worcester sauce, tomato sauce, salad cream/mayo, rice, pasta, tinned coconut milk, beans, flour, cornflour, sugar and salt & pepper. Other things can be bought as & when you see them/have the moneyI remember when we first got married it cost a fortune every week trying to stock up the cupboards

i always have the following stuff available:
thick sliced loaf (brown or white dep on budget) block of strongish cheddar, wedge of grana padano (cheaper than parm cheese but tastes the same) cartons of chopped tomatoes, onions, potatoes, fresh and frozen peppers, pork steaks or chicken breasts, frozen mixed veg, vegetable oil spread, olive oil, stock granules (veg, chicken and beef) worcester sauce, tabasco, tinned kidney beans, brown rice, pasta, instant noodles, 2 types of fruit eg apples and pears or watever, UHT milk, teabags, coffee, sugar, tinned and sliced ham, tuna and salmon, sea salt, mixed peppercorns, garlic, eggs, wine(!?!) dried mixed herbs, crisps, celery, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, frozen sausages, fish fingers, oven chips
from this i can whip up several meals that will see me through to pay day....... buttered toast or sausage sandwich with cup of tea for breakfast, cheese/ham sandwich with crisps and fruit for lunch, pasta with classic tomato sauce, pasta and peppers, grilled chicken breast/pork steak with steamed veggies boiled potatoes and glass of wine, sausage pasta, rice and beans, chicken with rice and peppers, oniony rice, rice potatoes and onions, fish fingers and chips for evening meal,
when it was cold recently i found that a mug of hot beef stock made a cheap warming drink!! i also snack on crisps, cubes of cheese mixed up with celery, cucumber, onion and cherry toms, toast, instant noodles etc. i shop at sainsburys aldi asda and morrisons and tend to buy the basics/smartprice/morrisons cheapy range for most of my essentials with the exception of OXO stock granules, lea and perrins worcester sauce!! i get nearly all my frozen stuff from aldi as its better than the other stuff ( the frozen veg medley is fab!!!)
i buy a lot of other stuff as well but these items r my "cupboard essentials" that i couldnt live without!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -

I do a bulk delivery order every few months (HATE supermarkets) and am lucky enough to have good value local shops for the fresh stuff, and chocolate! I have also just realised how lucky we are to have access to all this stuff, it would have been a lot less varied 40 years ago.0 -
Most of the above plus a huge bar of cadburys and a litre bottle of Gordons and a dozen tonics., pure bliss on a day off when all the houseworks done, and I can put my feet up with a nice new Hilary Mantell book to read.
