My mum bought a swarovski cross and chain in asutria a few years ago and wore it daily, but sadly has now lost it so my dad went into the Warrington branch to buy a replacement cross and chain only to be told they don't have any and will not have any they are moving away from any and all religious type products. The next day someone else visited the same store asked for a cross and chain was told no, they then asked could you get it online and have it delivered to store again .No.. so you are refusing to help me is there any reason why ...to this the sales assistant replied with yes I'm refusing to help and I refuse to give my reasons ....

I'm unsure what the problem is.
Not selling crosses generally or not selling one to your dad?
Buy one from somewhere else or buy them online from the swarovski site.
Problem solved.0 -
So you want them to resume stocking particular items just to please you? I think you need to revise your idea of what would be an acceptable business model, the world does not revolve around you.0
-
I wonder if the second person was being a bit confrontational?
Why should the store HAVE to supply cross and chains? Seems like a bit of a mountain/molehill situation.0 -
Title of this Praise Vent Warning .. I choose vent
New cross and chain was bought elsewhere so problem solved.
Not asking for them to restock or start reselling.
No arguing was had in the shop in the first instance their reasons given were accepted, granted a little confused by it, left the shop and went somewhere different.
Reason for VENT was why they had given ..move away from any religious items as an excuse. Its their right as a shop to sell whatever they like to whoever they like but an excuse like that really !!!
At the end of the day its a sparkly cross and chain it may be a religious symbol but its not advertised as such.0 -
Just lost my very long reply to this thread. Not happy.
Anyway here's the short version.
Why do you think the shop assistant was lying to you?
The shop is not obliged to tell you why they don't stock crosses.
It may be because they are a believer who doesn't like bling crosses or a non believer who doesn't like religious symbols. Who knows?
Was it you that went back the second time? Did you expect a different answer? It seems that they were very consistent in their replies, so that's probably your answer right there - they don't sell religious symbols.0 -
They are probably moving away from "religious" items because they don't sell much religious "bling", most genuinely religious people will want plainer items and plain is something Swarovski don't do. Also religious "bling" is now linked to the gangsta / rapper fashion, maybe something they don't want to be involved in.0

And there we have it. ^^^^Title of this Praise Vent Warning .. I choose vent

Did your Mum look online?
According to their website:
http://www.swarovski.com/Web_GB/en/5278296/product/Mini_Cross_Pendant,_White.html
so I guess what the sales assistant said was that they - Swarovski as a shop - would not order it online and have it delivered to their shop for collection.
But what was the problem with your Mum or Dad ordering it online for delivery to their home?0 -
Just to add that I think the stores in the UK (and maybe everywhere else) are operating under franchise, which gives them even more room to choose what they do or do not sell.0
-
You should have told them you don't want a cross or religious symbol. Do they have a lower case letter t with sparkly bits on?0
-
Clearly it was the OP or someone under guidance of the OP who went back the second time, otherwise they would have no idea what was said and the responses.
