    Topm,

I'm sure i won't be alone from your numerous devoted admirers to say welcome back, even on an occasional basis! I'm sure 2020 will be the start of the life that you want. Interesting, isn't it, that embracing abundance can be just as - or more frugal - than a more punitive approach. I think both deserve air time here, though the former is rarer. You are its leading proponent; looking back, I wonder if some of the questions were attempts to understand a different philosophy from the other end of the spectrum? There are so many blogs taking the opposite stance, so perhaps your absence will have deepened still more everyone's appreciation of your unique take, and your value.

Thanks again TOPM for the update. The boards have been poorer for your absence. Humdinger
  • Ah it’s so good to “hear” from you!!! You won’t know who I am, I have a new username, but I really loved reading your diary when you were last here!

Sorry to hear about your separation. I went through similar 3 years ago so my inbox is open if you need to chat/rant :) Glad things are amicable between you both, it’s definitely much easier that way :)

    Take care! x
  • Oh Tread - how lovely to hear an update
I only rarely posted on your diary , but had really missed reading it and kept wondering how everything turned out.
Sorry to hear about the split , but glad everything else OK.

I look forward to reading further updates if you manage to find time to post.
  • Glad to hear of the success of the business and sorry to hear about the separation. I hoped all was well with the business and house renovations and hoped the debts were stable and life not too stressful.

I used to like the eco discussions on this thread as I picked up some tips from you and others on here.

I hope Christmas wasn't too spendy!

    All the best
  • Lovely to see an update. Sorry to hear about the separation but good to hear things are amicable and the rest of your life is going in a direction that you are happy with.
I think the forums seem to attract people who are more naturally inclined to embrace frugality especially over the longer term. That’s not to say we don’t all benefit from your approach both to question our preconceived notions as well look at our behaviour and check we are prioritising what is most important to us.
  • Good to hear from you TOPM. Glad that your business venture is going well. Your frugal food recipes sound intriguing, be great to hear some of those! Sorry to hear about the separation, but wishing you all the best for 2020.

I am glad you are feeling positive for the new decade TOPM and it sounds like you have had a busy year. Great that your business is going well but I am sorry about the personal challenges and mental health issues but good to see you working through them in your usual positive manner. Good luck for 2020.

    Hi TOPM :hello:

What a lovely surprise to 'see' you again. :T

Sorry to hear that there's been some hiccups, but glad that you seem so positive about everything now. Hope the DC are coping OK with the changes.

I'm another one who'd love you to keep posting and sharing your recipes.... You've been missed. XX

That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy
