Suffolk the only reason I have gone for frames over pillows (and TBH I'm hoping the frames will be cheap ones and there will be some left to go towards pillows) is because the prints were chosen by DH at a craft fair we went to a while ago, and it's so rare that he actually likes something interiors-ey. He saw them and got all excited and was so pleased with them (only £25 for the two). I figure since he actually earned the bonus and I have given him (us, in fact) not one single pound of it as extra personal spending money, it would be nice to use the household money for something he'll benefit from!
The idea of opening more accounts, let alone constantly shifting money between them, brings me out in a rash and is exactly the reason I have never bothered to do anything with the money in the joint account so far - as soon as it becomes an extra chore, it isn't going to happen. Besides, this way I'll surely be a millionaire by July, right? :rotfl:
My license is plastic already, so no worries on that front (wonder when it expires?!).
And don't get me started on mortgage overpayments - my budget can't handle any more pressure!Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.

I think you're spot on to make more income the focus
I might think the extension is too ambitious but if anything can make it less so, it is more income.
The motivation the extension is giving you is great - you're thinking about all the previous non-negotiables differently, with more of an eye on short term pain for long term gain.
PS This might be a bit too interfering, but I noticed your allocation of OH's bonus doesn't include a penny for him personally. I do think a small treat would be in order, you too possibly although I do think your work already has ongoing 'built in' treats for you with the fancy phone and clothes allowance. He works hard but has very little personal money or money freedom. I'd find it demoralizing after a while but maybe you have a saint amongst men.0 -

Woohoo, today's rounding down and general money shuffling has resulted in £5.44 going off the Barclaycard, bringing the CC debt total down to £13,997.80. Under the £14k barrier!
Three (or maybe more...) things to do today:
1. Order frames for two prints we've had waiting for aaaaages, now we have money in the household pot. Not done
2. Finish next week's contract work. Not finished, but good progress made.
3. Change driving license address - DH got stopped for a routine check the other day and I realised I haven't updated my license details since we moved 2.5 years ago! Not done.
4. Menu plan for next two weeks - I have loved the 2 week menu plan, even though I'm not sure it's saved us much money (although maybe it has saved some, because there seems to be lots of food leftover, so we'll see if the next fortnight is cheaper), because it's nice to only think about it every 2 weeks! Done, veeeerrrrry long list written!
5. Clean kitchen - every room is a bit of a disaster since I've been ill! Time to make a start repairing the damage. DH has kept on top of the worst, but things are not exactly up to my standards. Done, so nice to have it clear and tidy and organised again.
6. Check dietary requirements of weekend clients. Done.
7. Social media for work. Not done.
8. Do some ironing. Not done.
9. Research camping trip with friends in the summer. Not done.

Week 63: Day 5
Friday Friday Friday. For me, for the next 3 weeks, this is when the less exciting bit of my week starts, as I have clients on Saturdays for three weeks in a row. Boo. But yay to earning money.
On the subject of earning money, I have made a teeny weeny improvement to my daily 'need to earn' figure from May to December. I have downgraded iCloud storage (so much easier than I expected. Why did I not do it four months ago?!) so it will now only be £2.49 per month. So that’s £4.50 extra per month in the budget. Such a small saving that I’m not trying to divide it, just chucking £4 into the extension pot and a whopping 50p extra towards the debt (none of YNAB’s ‘give every dollar a job’ rubbish - this is a case of every single last penny having a job too!). So the total shortfall has reduced by £4 x 8 months = £32, bringing my daily earning goal down from £30.31 to a mere… hold onto your hats… £29.77. Hey, it’s a reduction, I’ll take it.
I'm not sure I can make any other 'easy' reductions in the number, even small ones, so it's just going to be a case of working hard and trying my best to reduce that figure on a day by day basis from here on in.
Three (or maybe more...) things to do today:
1. Food shopping - town this morning for fish monger and zero waste shop, Lidl this afternoon followed by Sainsbury's top up of anything remaining.
2. Make soup for clients tomorrow. I'm going to make this pea and garlic one, I've had enough of winter root veg soups.
3. Make biscuits for clients tomorrow.
4. Clean the dining room.
5. Clean the sitting room.
6. Clean the bathroom.

Just delurking to say about your driving licence. I notice it's not on today's to do list. I believe the maximum fine is £1,000 if you get caught with it out of date, so it'd be worth doing.
Also, when I did mine, they randomly made the card have a ten year valid date again. Small win!! (Although I'm 17 on that picture and it's valid until I'm 34 now!!!55357;!!!56834;)0 -
R. E. Driving licence: I updated mine to change address not that long ago and it was free. If I remember correctly they only charge to change photo so get it in before it's a couple of months before the photo needs changing else you will need to pay.Debt: £11,640.02 paid in full! DFD: 30/06/20

Bleurgh. Mid-tidying up for clients tomorrow (it's several people, which is unusual for me, and it's a total pain at the time, but means my hourly rate is higher). Have stopped for a cup of tea and a MSE catch up, but back to cleaning in a mo.
Did a truly ridiculously enormous food shop today. We had run out of everything - baking ingredients, cleaning stuff, fruit and veg, breakfast things. All The Food. I daren't even add up how much it was. It was two weeks food shopping (although will definitely need to top up on fruit and veg, but hopefully not much else) and it was around the £200 mark  . I'm hoping the food costs for the rest of the month will be pretty low though, maybe £30 next week, £50 the week after, then probably a normal sized shop at the end of the month, so hopefully it will average out to £400 over the course of the month ahead.

I like the way you are allocating various percentages to different pots. Might have to use that idea on my budget!
The daily earning target is a good idea, as you said much less daunting than the larger figure.
Hope the time with the clients goes well.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.
