  • Week 45: Day 7

Another day, another opportunity for manic Christmas preparation! Yesterday I baked three batches of biscuits to take to relatives today (we are going to lunch with one lot and then an afternoon party with another lot), four loaves of bread to see us through until Boxing Day, iced two Christmas cakes, wrapped three chocolate salami and looked after three DC. Slightly tiring! And that was before we started present wrapping in the evening.

Anyway, today is hectic for different reasons. At least I don't have to make lunch though, since relative 1 is making it for us. Then hoping for enough nibbles at the afternoon party that the DC don't need dinner either. Will try to get home at a sensible time so we can do more present wrapping when we get back.

Am determined to relax and enjoy today - we are socialising today and tomorrow, and will have a quiet Christmas day, so it should be a nice balance. I haven't done everything I wanted to by this time, but meh. The DCs have great presents waiting for them, we have food, it will all be fine.

    to do today
    1. Ironing (at least enough to give everyone clean clothes to wear today!).
    2. Pack up hyacinth, jam and chocolate salami to give to two lots of relatives today.
    3. Probably another batch of mince pies (possibly to eat in the car).
    4. Sew up the unicorn I knitted for DC3
    5. Wrap more presents.

    To do this week
    1. Make candles.
    2. Make jam. Done.
    3. Make chocolate salami. Done.
    4. Ice Christmas cakes (taking one to my mum's after Christmas). Done.
    5. Make florentine biscuits.

    To do in December
    1. finish Christmas shopping! Done!
    2. buy DH's birthday present while I'm doing the Christmas shopping.
    3. make some more candles.
    4. don't try to do too much! I already have a few client bookings and lots of work I want to do, alongside the Christmas stuff. I need to make sure I don't get overwhelmed again. Yeah, this is going abysmally, as always.
    5. update debt totals at the end of the month, to ensure we know where we are as we start 2018.[/QUOTE]
Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.
Divorcing, unclear on final debt total right now, but focusing on building a financial buffer zone.

    2. Make star biscuit tree to take to friends' tomorrow (like this).

Ooh, I have the cutter set for that tree! Why did I never think of it in anything else but gingerbread?

I really don't know how you manage to do so much cooking! :D

If it helps at all with gift wrapping: I designate one design of paper per person. Eveything with that colour on belongs to that person. Saves a lot of label writing. :D

  • That's a great idea to use different wrapping paper for each person, although I'd need a few designs!!!

I bought the star cutters from Lakeland a couple of days ago so your link has given me lots of inspiration to get started - thank you!

    I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy
