Week 44: Day 2
Thank you for all the birthday wishes, you're a lovely bunch! Had a super day, we bought our tree and decorated it. We decided to put the tree up on a little table this year, so bought a smaller one than normal, only it transpired when we got that that DH thought that 'smaller' meant '6 foot'. We compromised a bit and got a 5ft tree and trimmed it a little. It's still much bigger than I had planned, but smaller than DH expected, so a compromise somewhere! Being smaller meant it was a little cheaper, so my decorating budget hasn't been swallowed too badly. It is also a very odd shape, but I'm just claiming it has personality. The only decoration I need to still get is a wreath (and actually I don't need to get one, just get some supplies to make one, as I have two wreath bases here).
I have a client today and some orders to pack, so won't be doing very much Christmassy stuff today, but I want to start wrapping presents this week - I always always end up leaving it until the 23rd/24th and we're going to two parties on those days this year, so I want to be ahead of myself. I'm also hoping I'll discover that my DCs have quite a lot and I can skim off some of their gifts to give to the family children who we need to buy for.
to do today
1. Finish cleaning before client comes.
2. More Christmas knitting.
3. Practise nativity lines with DC2 for the last time! They are performing for the school today and I will watch tomorrow.
4. Pack and post orders for smaller business.
5. Laundry.
6. Chase a couple of work enquiries that are provisional bookings but not confirmed.
To do this week
1. Finish Christmas knitting for DH.
2. Wrap some presents and decide whether to order more for family children.
3. Get further ahead on contract work.
4. Write Christmas cards.
To do in December
1. finish Christmas shopping! Almost there!
2. buy DH's birthday present while I'm doing the Christmas shopping.
3. make some more candles.
4. don't try to do too much! I already have a few client bookings and lots of work I want to do, alongside the Christmas stuff. I need to make sure I don't get overwhelmed again. Yeah, this is going abysmally, as always.
5. update debt totals at the end of the month, to ensure we know where we are as we start 2018.Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.
Divorcing, unclear on final debt total right now, but focusing on building a financial buffer zone.0 -

Week 44: Day 3
Had another booking confirmed yesterday, so am now working two days between Christmas and New Year, but this one will be a good couple of hundred pounds in, so i didn't feel able to say no, under current circumstances!
DC2's nativity today, I am excited for him as he has the main part and I think has really enjoyed the build up. Hope it goes well for him. My mum is (hopefully, assuming she can get her car out of her snowy drive) coming down to watch and will stay for a few days to enable me to work on Friday. We, however, have had NO SNOW at all, which I feel very short changed about.
Today is about catching up with things and trying to get a bit more ahead in my work before the end of the week so I can slow right down over the Christmas period.
to do today
1. Laundry.
2. Ironing
3. Finish DH's hat.
4. Pack and post orders for smaller business.
5. Text a handful of friends who I have semi-made arrangements with for the holidays but haven't actually confirmed anything.
6. Start planning Christmas cooking - I want to try to get ahead on this, and this weekend is the only chance I have to do it.
7. Start wrapping presents.

I missed your birthday.
It sounds as though it was fun and I love that your tree has 'personality'
Great to hear the work is coming in, too.
