Selling EBAY listed item privately

Its not really money saving, it is avoiding paying for a service. If you have your hair cut and then run out at the end without paying, then you have been provided with a service, that you haven't paid for. Ebay may be a huge company and I am sure £4.50 is in insignificant amount to them but just admit you were provided with a service you didn't pay for. Don't try and dress it up as money saving.
Well to be fair I have paid a listing insertion fee. So I have paid the listing. In the end I opted to sell it private. I forgot to say that the woman first saw it on Preloved, but couldn't contact as wasn't a paying member. Ebay hasn't introduced me either.
I agree Ebay are not a charity, though nor am I. Ebay thinks that every seller is a charity as
I've been turned over many times when ebay should of gone in my favour and didn't.
Swings roundabouts as far as I am concerned!0 -

At least the hairdresser pays tax.
Ebay are a giant *foreign* company who pay little or noting in tax, force hapless users to get paid via paypal (more$$$) and who's tax free efforts have decimated the high st - British companies who actually paid some tax, employed people here and paid business rates gone.
So don't feel sorry for them."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

Well said! :T
Ebay want everything their own way. Just a pity they don't get the majority of things correct. IMHO Ebay have become too big. Just because you can dictate to everyone doesn't mean you have too!0 -
A side point, eBay have the technology and the will to search messages for issues that loose them money, but not for issues that loose sellers money. Not very high up their agenda? They've been using this technology for years.
I know because I'm the one that a few times has contacted all the other sellers involved and asked, "what is going on with this ridiculous buyer?" and then contacted eBay who then have to be told what is going on by sellers.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. The thing is with EBAY. The way they go about it it making it more and more desirable for the buyer.
Ebay feel more buyers automatically = more fees
Ebay does not feel more sellers = more fees they don't see it like that
EBAY are basically a mail order company now with Ebay being the step in adminstrators as and when.
Have a look on how many products on Ebay sell for 20% or more, then in the high street.
Buyers know that with the Ebay always on their side they don't have to walk to the shops, open an online account with someone and they can probably take the !!!! with returning when they feel like it, in any condition. When any retail shop would tell you where to go.
This is where EBay are heading.
It's chicken and egg. There is no Buyer without a seller!0 -
I've had one too. The item I was selling sold within 10 mins of listing on BIT, then next day I get notification that it is a hacked account. So refunded and list again and same thing happens, another hacked account. Listed a third time but only auction this time and I was messaged with an offer to come collect with cash. After all the messing around I jumped at chance of cash on collection and ended the auction. Now I have a warning :-( won't bother trying to sell anything valuable on eBay again, too many scammers and a lot of messing about!0
