MRI scan - cost

Phone a few hospitals for quotes as they vary considerably. It's also worth phoning your local NHS hospital as they do private scans at weekends and evening.
The waiting time for a non-urgent MRI scan can be over 12 months in the NHS.

I know this is an old thread but I thought it worth revisiting it as there is a serious saving to be made if anyone is looking to have a private MRI scan in the UK. There is a group of consultant radiologists in Hereford who are only charging £200 for an MRI scan including a consultant report. They pay the local NHS hospital to use its scanner. They have no waiting list and get the report out by the next day. They have a website at https://www.uk-radiology.co.uk0

Interesting... will bookmark this site. I have a friend who might be interested."I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again."

Have a look at https://www.cmcimaging.co.uk who are in Solihull. They charge £195 for one area (i.e. MRI brain would be one area) including report, and it is the same scanner that comes to the Leicester Nuffield, where the cost would be £510. The consultant I work for uses them frequently for uninsured patients as the cost is so much less.A chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion0

The difference in the prices is because the middleman (i.e. the private hospital) is cut out by going direct. The private hospital makes a huge charge itself for providing the facility on its premises - far more than the scanner operator itself gets.A chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion0 -
Had a look at https://www.cmcimaging.co.uk. Still worth doing the calculations as they charge £195 for each additional area so a two area scan is £390 and charge £25 for a receipt. https://www.uk-radiology.co.uk would charge £300 including receipt for two areas.0

Hi,
I had a scan done with a company called Vista Diagnostics. they are based 1 minute from Waterloo station, so very convenient if you're in the London area. they were cheap too.. £200 for my scan but the price obviously varies if you are having a larger area scanned. Overall i was very happy with their service and it definitely beats waiting for the NHS!0
