So is your mate!Picklepockle wrote: »As you can see I'm clueless on thisPlease note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

No, not correct. I hope your Police Officer friend isn't telling you this as well!picklepockle wrote: »ok so if i eventually get taken to court I have read they can only charge for their loss, in this case 50P is that correct?
If it proceeds to a claim they can claim the £100 PCN plus the court filing/hearing fees, so people who manage to lose a defended claim pay about £150 - £175 all told. Rare but that's the worst case scenario - no CCJ, no effect on credit rating if a person defends even if they lose, as long as they turn up to the hearing and pay if a Judge finds against them. Definitely worth the fight, Ethical are not the sharpest!
Cross the defence bridge if & when you come to it. We don't hear of many losses in any scenario reported online and I can't recall any lost in 2016/17 where MSE contributed and advised on the defence & strategy.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
