** Baffled by MSE Captcha **

Just checking (not venting) but has anyone else experienced any difficulty in posting on here recently?
I've been an MSE member for 7 years and have just replied to another poster who was kindly helping out with something . . . but my reply was intercepted by something to do with 'Cloudfire' and one of those ludicrous Captcha things requiring me to tick images with (in this instance) street signs, this to prove I Am Not A Robot.
Seeing as how I was posting without obstruction yesterday and the day before, hopefully some new IT practice has not been introduced here otherwise not only will I continue not to be a robot, I won't be an MSE member, either.
(Note: in order to facilitate the MSE Captcha it was necessary for me to disable Privacy Badger, Adblock Plus, Better Privacy and uBlock Origin. These are defence measures which work happily in tandem, have never slowed down Firefox, and are in place for quite sensible reasons. Also: I do not use my VPN -- ever -- to connect to MSE, so today's connection and privacy safeguards are the exact same as yesterday's. Why, then, the Captcha intercept??)
This is driving me nuts, they are caching the site in the cloud and part of this so called service is to add security, however, they have got the settings set way too high and I think they are in training mode.
If I post any URL it seems to kick it off.
I had timed out when I hit reply, so it asked me to login then it asked me the stupid robot squares, not once but to a second page, the first page need three the second page needed SIX. So I was logged in, GUESS WHAT, when I hit preview it asked me AGAIN, I corrected the preview and pressed Submit Reply and GUESS WHAT it asked me again.
So to make a post I had to login and press 27 squares, life is too short!
If this carries on I will just leave. Please be nice to all MoneySavers. That’s the forum motto. Remember, the prime aim is to help provide info and resources. Yeah, I got it a few times yesterday and the only way I could get past it each time was to turn 'NoScript' off.
Then got advised to run antivirus and malware scanners.
Well doh . . . maybe there'd be no need, if I'd not had to disable NoScript. Halfwits.0 -
I do not buy this, I have used the forum for years with no problem, they changed the hosting to use this dire company.
I am unsubscribing from threads and will soon be "outta here"Please be nice to all MoneySavers. That’s the forum motto. Remember, the prime aim is to help provide info and resources. Many posters have kindly responding on the techie board to tell me what's happening but it would be good if mse had the courtesy to respond as to why and what they can do about it.
To me, that would be a far better use of their time than starting silly threads on imaginary scenarios.
ETA: must remember to copy before posting in case the robot gets me:mad:0 -
Could be false positive on a range of IP addresses ..
Out of interest, what ISP are you all using ??
No problem here (using a 20Meg dedicated line from Easynet)0 -

Hey Andy
I think you are over thinking it a bit, one of the hosting companies I use offers cloudflare and it has widely been reported that it p's off visitors.
Any HPPT links sets off mine.
What Cloudflare does is cache parts of the website across the world, then when someone accesses their server delivers the content then passes back the interaction.
This is a useful option if you are a website with a worldwide audience, but this site is probably 95% uk users, so benefits would be minimal.
I suspect they are still in the stage of replicating the site across the world and the settings are set too high 27 clicks to enter a page is one way to make me leave a site with violent thoughts. Please be nice to all MoneySavers. Firefox browser, more often with longer posts, using noscript, adblockers, and cookie destroyers get the capture message.
On the same vpn (pia), using slimjet browser with the built in adblocker enabled, I have no issues.
I use Lazerus plugin on firefox to resurect the text from failed posts.0 -
