Have you looked at all 3 of your credit reports? Do you have credit history?

Sometimes the card companies are looking for a certain type of customer. If they think you won't be profitable to them they may decline you.

Also don't forget that even if you had a 95% chance of getting accepted then 5 out of a 100 scoring exactly the same would be turned down.

Unless it's a pre check that guarantees you acceptance then even with a highly likely you're never... well... guaranteed acceptance.

  • Yes I've checked both Experian and clear score and they both in the fair category. I just want to transfer my balance but only the mainstream lenders such as Barclays and HSBC are in the high percentage

Not your scores. Your credit files. What do they say?
  • Even if you don't rate the usefulness of credit scoring, if they say 'fair' that would seem to indicate some underlying problems / issues.

  • I took out a mortgage around 5 months ago to which my score took a hit. There's nothing I can see on my file that would cause any problems. Thanks for your help
