    Yeah, 2GB is workable. Definitely 4GB (2GB X2) helps to run more application, especially Windows eats up memory so much. (i.e. bloatware) But if you want to speed up your computer, get a SSD first! not memory.

    SSD will run super fast even you have 300MB free memory, then crush when no memory. Why 8GB hard disk computer is so slow? because we give up running more application because hard disk is too slow.

    I have got a couple of second hand HP elitebooks (like yours) They are far far better quality than consumer models, hope you will take care of yours.
