carphone warehouse & k800i
i read in another thread that phones are usually unlocked from the carphone warehouse.
if this is the case why do they sell the k800i on 02 for £99 and £199 on fresh mobile. if this was the case you could just buy the £99 02 phone and get a free fresh mobile simcard?
also i dont see it written anywhere?
I am looking for a good deal on a PAYG k800i but i dont want it on o2 (like all the £80-£100 ones seem to be) their call charges are expensive. so if you know any good deals please post.
i would prefer if i could use my fresh mobile sim card i already have. i dont think they are very easy to unlock though
or if it was on virgin or t-mobile or another reasonably priced network that would be ok
thanks!

Networks pay retailers every time they connect a PAYG customer. CPW's price for o2 suggests that o2 are paying them the most.
Fresh are more expensive because they're owned by CPW so there's no discount for them when they sell you a handset connected to Fresh - any reduction on their SIM free price would be producing a loss (CPW K800i SIM free price is £199.99)
I can almost guarantee you that you'll recieve a SIM free K800i (ie, unlocked) with an o2 connection pack and £10 credit for £109.95.
I'm also going to buy one of these phones soon, but I want to use it on o2 anyway0 -
I believe that 'sim free' and 'unlocked' are different things.
I may be wrong but I believe 'Sim free' means that the phone is unlocked and unbranded(No network menu's and stickers on the phone), whilst unlocked means that it has network branding but is not locked to that particular network.
There is no guarantee that a phone from CPW will be unlocked, they will be happy to tell you before purchase though.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0 -
i phoned them. they said they cant guarantee it would be unlocked if i order online but if i order over the phone they can put an unlocked one in for me. so i did so no cashback for me!0

Most phones supplied by CPW instore are from SIM free stock - they just include a network connection pack with it.0

If you're still wondering - I just bought one instore.
£99.95 on o2 - definately unlocked and unbranded since this was their excuse for not throwing in a memory card like o2 do.
Tip: get a free o2 SIM and ask them to perform a handset upgrade on it - saves having to top up £10 if you're going to use another network anyway.0
