Morning everyone,
Grey, overcast and cold here, we had sleet last night just in time for the girls last walk, we all got soaked!
Just need a few bits of fresh veg etc so will pop out this morning, have to go over the bungalow this afternoon as there are a couple of bits of medical equipment that need picking up, they let me sit there for 4 hours last week before phoning to say they weren't coming  wasn't happy at all, they better turn up today!
GInger prawn stir-fry for tea tonight so nice and easy again, am thinking soup for lunch to keep out the chill.
Have a good day everyone, take care folks x0 -
Good morning everyone,
Happy Friday
Yesterday evening was relaxed but I didn't do too much. Sleeping for 10.30 I recon.
Been to the gym this morning and I've tried a new recipe for lunch today; salad with peaches wrapped in parma ham with a sprinkle of ground pistachios. Looks nice, I'll give the verdict on taste later.
My gym buddy asked me this morning what my plans are for tonight/this weekend and apart from working on Sunday, I don't have any plans. Not sure what to get up to. I'll make tomorrow a productive one I think.
camelot - that sounds like my perfect evening. Still Game and venison. Mmmmm.
Jackie - sounds like you should start up a taxi business!0 -
Gers I've just caught up on yesterdays thread.
I love the idea of your uninvited/unintentional visitors multiplying before your eyes...must make for a good impromptu social half hour (so long as they don't outstay their welcome)

Good morning,
Nmlc thank you for starting the thread.
I am grateful for another good night sleep.
My day today: Pilates at 10 then light brunch after 11, no breakfast, because at 2:30pm I am meeting a few friends who have organised a cream tea. With my wretched WW diet I have to "point" everything so will have to eat rabbit food before and after the cream tea in order to be able to indulge a bit and not overdo it.
Tonight DS is supposed to visit with a friend but hasn't confirmed. Everything up in the air.
At least, yesterday was my last day with the boys, now my time is my own. I will miss the boys and also the regular income, but the freedom and rest make up for it. The mum said she will call me for emergencies and odd days. I said I would be delighted to do odd days, that only the regular 3 days a week had become too much of a commitment. Odd days will be really welcome. She gave me a lovely bunch of flowers and a thank you card.
I will see how we do money wise now that DH will start claiming his state pension, but if tight I might look for some evening babysitting, especially when DH has his martial arts evenings.
Just one more things, last night while DH was out I watched both episodes of Fair Isle, it was fascinating, but on hindsight it's just as well we did not try to move there, I would have been terrified of the plane and sick on the sea, and claustrophobic with everybody knowing my business all the time. And would have missed trees!
Hugs to all who need them and well wishes to the poorlies.
Have a good day. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Morning all
Chilly here with a biting wind took Dolly out for her walk and now i have a bit of a headache so will take some tablets with a cuppa.
Cleaning day today and maybe a bit of ironing . Yesterday turned out better i had a letter with a PPI refund i knew nothing about from 1998 they wrote to me so spending money for the cruise all sorted .
The car is being repaired £200 so not great but not a disaster
Dinner tonight is freezer roulette . We have friends coming tomorrow and will have take-away
Have a great day and stay warm0 -
Morning, ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one, it is a bit misty, but we have snow instead of frost, not much, just flurries,, the sky is quite light so hopefully it will not be too much.
Off to see me quilting buddy this afternoon, she has not been too well, I have a pot of white Hyacinths to cheer her up a bit. I always take her thr Country Living Mag which my daughter passes on to me, it gets well read. I also have 5 copies of Peoples Friend from my neighbour for her.
No Friday clean, just need to peel spuds to have with tonight's fish, I have a Drs appointment at 4 40. need to discuss my weird week last week.
Thankfully a better nights sleep, although I did wake around 1.30am for the loo, its ages since I had to get up during the night, now suddenly its every night again.
Will call at the local shop on the way out, I need the sitting room curtains cleaned and we also have to collect the TV choice.
Today was the day the new broadband service was to have gone live, its not going to happen for another 2 weeks and we still have not received the box. Not too happy, I just hope the new speed is all its cracked up to be otherwise I am going to be very annoyed. Its costing me an extra £10 a month.
Lainey, take care of yourself, rest as much as you can and allow yourself to grieve for the loss of your Mum, I for one, do not believe in the 'british' stiff upper lip, it causes terrible problems when people feel they cannot grieve openly. Remember the good times.0 -
Good Morning OSers,
Chilly today! Wrapped up warm and have the heater aimed at my feet under the desk.
Haven't posted for a while but as always I have been lurking and reading.
Finishing at lunchtime today as I'm having lunch with grampa, doing soup and a sandwich to keep him nice and warm. Will take him up to the hospital to visit nan a little later too. He gets terribly lonely there so trying to get down as much as possible.
Must go get the kettle on.
Hugs to all who need or want one.
Stay safe and keep warm all!xxEmergency Savings #73 = £1,500/£2,000

Hello everyone
Very cold with snow/sleet flurries.
Went to town this morning for walking shoes for DH but came home with a day sack, a fleece each and a pair of jeans for me but no shoes. I just had to have a new pair of jeans because I've dropped a size:T
Dad didn't come for tea yesterday as he was feeling rough with his chest and I don't blame him not coming out in the cold as he's 87, a chronic asthmatic with rheumatoid arthritis. So we had some bbq pork steaks which I found lurking in the freezer. Today will be spag bol with fresh bread.
Just a quick question if I may. I noticed that there is a thanks button but I don't know how or when to use it. Could someone help me please?
Would you believe it, the sun has just come out and the temperature has reached a balmy 5 degrees.
