O/S Daily Friday 10 February 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, cold and dry but no frost. Yesterday it was bitterly cold, today is set to be the same.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work, DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was roasted chicken portions, mash, carrots, peas and gravy, last of the xmas puddings and custard for those that wanted some. I did end up buying the chicken portions but everything else was from stores. Tonight is going to be chicken and ham kievs, chips, beans/veg for the menfolk, I'll be having mushroom omlette and salad. We have quite a lot of eggs so will use some up. DH suggested last night that he wants takeaway for a change Sat night, I gently reminded about how it doesn't agree with him, and said I wasn't happy to spend that kind of money and it be wasted, he's got up this morning and said "if it's ok, we won't bother with having takeaway Sat night, we'll keep the money for our hols" - do you think there's a slim possibility he may be getting the idea???
Engineer arrived to look at our fridge/freezer, and there was a fault on the electric circuit board, so he's fitted a new one, that should solve the problem, we'll see. The god awful noise etc is apparently "normal" and nothing they can do but some of that will be due to the circuit board fault sending the wrong messages - the banging and popping is the machine doing it's defrost etc.
Today I'll be doing the food shopping first thing, then home get shopping put away, and I have a nail appointment at 12 noon, they are a complete mess and need doing desperately, my normal girl wasn't able to do them last time as they had a sudden bereavement in her family and she had gone to be with her family, really hoping she's there today as the other girl that did them isn't anywhere near as thorough.
Yesterday I did get on top of the washing, drying and ironing, I did shove the hoover round and dust - just couldn't get really get going, but did enough, it's passable. I did get some paying of bills done online, visited building society and bank. We're going to sort the "hotspot" that we planned last week, although DH is working again tomorrow morning - so it may or may not get done! I'll see how I go today and if I get chance I'll make a start - although I do need to do some ironing as that hasn't been done as yet.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks for the start NMLC. A slight dusting of snow for us this morning. Slight I will settle for, just don't want the deep stuff.
Just enjoying a peaceful coffee before it's time to wake up the 3 DGDs and then it will be chaos till they get shoved out of the door at 8.15.
The usual Friday clean round to do and looking forward to putting on my new bedding once the bedrooms have been done. Just one little problem, the pic I have on the wall won't go at all with the new linen. A real pity cos I really like it!
There's a bit of shepherd's pie left over which will warm up for Mr TA's lunch. I'll have maybe a bagel and some soup. Tonight will probably be chicken portions transformed into something yet to be decided. Will get some out to be defrosting.
Have a good day folks if you can and hugs to the poorlies, sad and worried. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

Morning All
Really enjoyed the evening out, the dinner (venison burger) was good but enourmous and the show was really funny. Drove up in the end, couldn't be bothered to queue for a train after and it all worked out really well.
Didn't sleep too well but was fast asleep when the alarm went off, didn't want to get out of the nice warm bed! Heating on for an hour before I go to work.
Glad your young man behaved Gers, you have the patience of a saint!
Hope you don't get any more snow TA.
Happy Friday! Take care. XX0 -

Morning all.
Slept really well for a change. Neither my bladder or my hounds woke me up. Hubby should be at work by now and Youngest is on day 2 of his holiday entitlement. All the other apprentices are at college on Thursdays and Fridays but since he did his college courses last year he doesn't have to sit them again. He usually works through the college days and gets paid extra for doing so but wanted a couple of days off.
The hounds have been out but haven't asked for breakfast as yet. Probably still stuffed from Wednesdays attack on the kibble. Like I said the other day, the list of things I need to hide from my Grandson grows by the week. I'm not sure what I'll do when I've got 2 to look after but thankfully, his Mummy is having a full 12 months off maternity leave so I don't have to think about that yet.
Onwards and forwards
Have a great day allThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
The tired insomniac checking in

Yesterday ended up being a long and busy day. After work I went to the dentist for a check up and polish. Unfortunately I need 2 fillings replaced so another appointment booked for March...Paying for the privilege of pain and discomfort is not my idea of fun, but needs must!
As I was near the SM I decided to do a top up shop for delivery. Thankfully they had a slot last night so the fridge, freezer and cupboards are full and I shouldn't need to shop again for 2/3 weeks other than fresh veg, bread etc.
By the time I had done my long walk home I was exhausted so showered, put my pj's on and opened my wine. No energy to cook so I had a freshly baked baguette, cheese, ys luxury coleslaw and a rocket salad to nibble on.
Today is work then I may do my weekly whole flat clean or I may go for a swim..or I may just collapse on the sofa...not sure yet..I'll see how I feel later.
Take care and have a good day one and all

Morning all, I ve been up since 4 but went to bed at so that's a decent sleep. It was bitterly cold here yesterday and I think it will be similar today.
Family happily sleeping, I am dressed and ready as the gas man cometh, just safety check.
I've cleaned the kitchen and will attack the bathroom in a minute.
As this my last weekday cook before I have to go back to work, I asked what they might like and was told that I should make something that I woukd like. That is not the best suggestion ever they wouldn't like it if I did, there is no way that they are going to enjoy, or even eat, a spinach risotto or vegetarian pasta bake. Last night I made a big pizza, my part was just plain, theirs was covered in spicy garlicky meat and horrible chorizo
And we had a grated carrot salad with it. So I am awaiting the arrival of inspiration .
Hope everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Karcher, that sounds like a perfectly lovely meal.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0

Good morning everyone.
Gosh, it's still -1 degrees outside and the forecast is for a high of 0 degrees. It'll be layers of clothes and piles of logs.
There's loads of emailing to be done, apart from my four hours of teaching a week I have another 'job' which takes three days a month so today is one of those.
Apart from that I'm hoping all will be peaceful. This will be my first free weekend since NY and I'm going to relax.
Happy Friday to all.0
