    Call me cynical ...
  • DPD wouldn't have left it outside if they obtained a neighbour signature. They are actually one of the best couriers - their drivers are all GPS tracked, right down to the meter, so there would be little chance they didn't actually deliver it.

At the end of the day, if the neighbour denies they have it you might have to take either Game or the neighbour to court.

Do Game track the serial numbers of consoles? I know Amazon do now - they can put it on Checkmend if its lost or stolen - at least helps prevent a thief reselling it.
  • Maybe it WAS the neighbour who left it outside, or maybe they've kept it for themselves - it's impossible to know at this point. What does seem clear to me the package should never have been delivered to my neighbour without my express permission? And the fact that it has been stolen by *someone* is the retailer's responsibility, and not mine, as I have never received or signed for the goods?

I went mental at Amazon for repeatedly leaving parcels on my doorstep. They left one there on a Saturday while we were away for the long weekend. It wasn't stolen, but did get absolutely soaked. Anything left on my doorstep from now on will find itself "stolen" - its not an acceptable way to deliver anything more valuable than milk.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.

Exactly. It doesn't matter what the neighbour did or didn't do, that's none of your concern. DPD, as the retailer's agent in this situation, has failed to complete the delivery plain and simple, the retailer must either refund or give you a replacement.

I've always found the DPD tracking site excellent at being able to reschedule deliveries.

The kicker of this is that I'd actually requested the order to be delivered to their Brighton store for collection, but I guess a fault in their website meant that it was marked to be delivered to my address. I immediately contacted them to ask them to remedy this, and was told this was not possible. Pretty shoddy customer service all round!

Out of interest, does any of the correspondence from them say that it should be delivered to the store, or does it say your home? If the former then it's another argument to use, to point out that they were delivering to the wrong place anyway.
  • Well I've had a rather more positive email from GAME, assuring me that they are chasing up the courier, but that they will likely refund me and raise a claim with DPD themselves. It was just the initial respondent I had who was being awkward. So that's good!

It is, but as the OP stated they couldn't get on to the website to change the delivery details.
