• Wouldn't it be a shame , oh and childish if several hundred people emailed wesson.brad@yahoo.com to ask if the bike was still for sale?

Hmm make sure they haven't hijacked your computer! It is entirely possible that you might have sent that message to the scammers and NOT ebay, despite thinking you sent it to ebay!! I would start scanning your system ASAP!

BTW next time before parting with so much cash maybe a good idea to look at the item before bidding?

well before anyone considers this they might want to do it from a disposable email address!

Oh dear, definitely OP has been got hold off by scammers..I just knew that even ebay couldn't be dim enough to suggest a £5000 transaction using a payment method they specifically ban was a good idea.

Right, leaving aside the ebay aspect now we know 100% this is a scam I suggest you look to your security as a matter of urgency. Start by changing all your passwords for ebay/paypal and anything connected. Then ask over on the techie board on MSE about doing a full clean on your PC just in case there is anything lurking. It is probably just a basic scam, but it never hurts to run through a full security sweep just in case.

• if it was an official message from ebay then they would have sent it thru my messages not just to your email, ive had one like this before, ebay always say never to reply to messages not sent thru my messages as well as your email, also it would say in your email message from (your ebay id)
well isn't that the pickle on the giant crap sandwich that is my day...
