Aqua card blocked after 2 days?

in Credit cards
Hi
Seen a few posts on this but just wanted to know what to do next.
My husband got an aqua credit card on Monday, all great, Exactly what we wanted to rebuild his credit. We thought we would pay our remaining balance on our holiday in June and then we can pay back the card when he gets paid (just so it was used and paid back etc). Yesterday he went to use it for some clothes for our little one online (again with the intention to pay off payday) and it was declined? Then had a call from aqua security to check this a couple of hours later - hubby was in loo so I took the call and message and he called them back. They then said after being on phone for about 20 mins that it had been moved to head office and that he has to wait to hear from them. The call then ended and that was that!
He's a bit confused. Will they call him about this? Will it be in writing? Is it worth him calling again to chase? Whilst it's not an emergency to rush it it would be nice to know how long this will take. Also he cannot log in online now and obviously will want to know the balance come payday to pay it off. Didn't know know if anyone has experienced this?

Looks like they have closed the account.
My guess is that you'll receive a letter in the next few days saying that 'after further checks' they have withdrawn the offer of a card.0 -
Blimey! Should have defo stayed away. What a waste of time that's been then. Not worried about the balance as such as I say because we can pay it off next week but not right is it?0

Calm down. It may just be a temporary block. Wait to see what they say.0

Could it be that where you paid off the balance on your holiday and then following day using the card to make further purchases that they wanted to clarify the amounts spent were actually made by your husband (normal security check) and that when he called them back, he failed to answer their security questions correctly to access the account and the account was then blocked?
I've never heard of a credit card company rescinding a credit card once it has been issued. Bank accounts - yes, I've heard about some banks have written to customers after the account has been newly opened and the customer failed their secondary checks, but not credit cards.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. If he paid before the statement was generated, a zero balance statement won't help rebuild his credit as the spend and repayment wouldn't be visible to the credit agencies....
Also, at the risk of asking an obvious question, did he definitely get enough of a credit limit to cover a holiday balance plus further spending? Initial credit limits from sub-prime lenders aren't renowned for their generosity!0 -
No he didn't get over the limit - he's got a £900 limit and used 250 on the rest of the holiday and £50 on clothes so well within it.
We'll see what they say. Just never experienced this before so didn't know what was best to do. Unless they have something down wrong I don't think he would have failed the security check - they only asked him for the usual d.o.b/post code email address etc. Nothing complicated even for him lol
Hopefully he will get a call or something today0 -
Just a quick update - he called again this morning to chase up and failed the secruity checks (I don't know if this is because he has a throat infection at the moment and is all croaky as they didn't believe it was him at one point!) So now he has to send off extra ID to confirm it is him using the card. Lot of running in circles here but I understand why they do it. So hopefully we can get it all sorted with the secruity and extra proof of identity0
