The prices start at the same level at weekends and during the week. The services the cheapest tickets are available for will change.

Priced up Grantham KX and cheapest was £24 return, for your times £43.50.

You can still order Railcard tickets, you just need to have one when you travel.

East Coast is much cheaper than Midland Mainline because Virgin have longer routes and more services on much busier lines so they sell more tickets.

wow, thats seems cheap. I cant find the £150 now? i can see it for around £105 but i still think thats too much for a 90 min journey

Theres me my gf and my 12 yr old daughter.

11th April 10:32 am = £43, return 12th - 16:15 = £108! ive checked for other times . I know theres different price trains at various times but everytime ive gone to London from Notts its been around the £50 mark just for me but thats wasnt necessarily 3 months in advance and i dont have a railcard thats valid

The National Rail Enquiries website is acting up at the minute
    Are those your planned dates?

If so, and you can leave a little earlier, then 08:35 from Nottingham, change at Grantham, arrives at Kings Cross at 10:35. Advance Single = £34.25 - that's total for all three of you.

Returning between 15:30 and 19:30 is generally (much) more expensive, as you've found out, as it's commuter going home time.

If you can travel a little later, the 19:33 from Kings Cross, change at Grantham, arrives at Nottingham at 21:33. Advance Single is again £34.25 - that's total for all three of you.

So £68.50 total return for all three of you.
Remember with Advance Singles you must travel on the booked train.

Now, if you had a Family and Friends Railcard that return total drops to £55.80 - a saving of just under £13.

    Get 20% off a F&F Railcard here.
So just two trips a year like the one you are planning and the railcard cost is almost covered.
  • thanks for the help guys, and for the 20% off railcard link

ill look again and see how cheap i can get it

    much appreciated
