Looking for name of song

Options
Hi All, need some help please. One of my neighbours, who is in her 70's, asked me if I could trace a song she half remembers. It starts 'When the moon is shining bright in the darkness of the night'. I've googled to no avail. Anyone recognise it ? Thanks in advance.

Can you give us a clue, which artist or group / what genre i.e. folk, jazz, pop or what?

Sunday Post is a good place to ask for help with this kind of thing.

No. I'm in my 70s and never heard it.

It doesn't make much sense anyway, does it? 'When the moon is shining bright...' like last night, it was like daylight, the night wasn't in 'darkness'. Some songs just sank without trace.

It may not be this one, but there's an Elvis song "You're the boss" which has the line - "But in the middle of the night when the moon is shining bright, Ah, you're the Boss!"

I know this - but I think I only remember the rude-ish words. It was like a belly-dance song, and I can sing it aloud right now

    when the moon shines bright
in the darkness of the night
singing honey put your tummy next to mine.
  • Shadows of the night
They are coming when the moon is shining bright
Leave their graves as shadows of the night
When the city is asleep no one knows the
    Shadows of the night
In the darkness they are flying side by side
Silent cowls are shadows of the night
No one ever saw a face of the shadows of the night

Hi thank you all for your replies.

Max, as my friend is in her seventies and rather old fashioned I doubt if it is your suggestion. I do appreciate your time and trouble though. BTW when I saw your name I read it as max my cardigan !!

  • Samson - Burning Up Lyrics

In the darkness of the night
When the moon above is shining bright
When the fire starts to rise
    Will you show me paradise?

    Burning hunger for your love
Will you touch me 'till i can't hold on?
Will you take me deep inside
Through the endless night to light?

    Chorus:
    Feel i'm burning, burning up
I'm on fire every time we touch
    Feel i'm burning, burning up
I'm on fire, i'm burning up

I am just a working man
Trying hard to do the best i can
Girl the loving that you bring
Make a working man a king
Now we all know how it felt to play in the band on the Titanic...
